At risk of sounding like a total noob (which BTW I am) how do you clean the SR22 bore from the breech end? Is it even possible? Not with any cleaning rods I've seen...

Also, the user manual insists that after the hand guard is off, the takedown bolt is removed and the safety is in the middle, the action/barrel assembly should "swing out" of the stock. Mine doesn't.
I know about the third "secret" step of removing the rail, but I have a scope mounted on and I don't think I should have to remove, re- mount and re-zero-it-in after every field strip.... Apologies if this was covered, I searched for SR22 cleaning and got nothing.

If you can purchase an alan key that is perhaps only a half inch long from access point, you can get into those holes from the side and remove rail without removing your optic.
You can use a bore snake to clean from breach.

you have the handguard removed but did you remove the two allen bolts that look like they go into the reciever by the take down bolt and remove that part of the handguard or just unscrew it? cause you need to remove it than you will be able to set the safety in the middle and pull it out of the frame with the top scope rail still on the top of the 10/22 reciever unless your scope is attached to part of the handguard rail than your screwed you will need to remove it to get it apart

It was all done as per the user manual instructions. Still won't go. Scope sits on top of the receiver, no handguard rail is present. Do I yank it hard or what?

On my Nordic Which is virtually identical if the front tube is off and the piece which the tube mounts to is off via the two bolts i mentioned in the last post than it should slide out but i just did some reading and they say on some the tolerances are so nice and tight you need to be able to pull it out in one stright pull and sometimes this means having to remove the top rail and frame cover so i guess its a double edged sword for you my friend, there is nothining mechanical holding you back just good machining :)

this is what I use.

I use a bore snake, slides right through with the action open. Or if you want to detail clean it, remove the barrel from the gun - doesn't take long

SR22's need cleaning:eek: Oh #### I have only put a bore brush threw it a couple of times after use in poor weather followed by a few patches... lol

If you are having trouble levering the receiver group out of the lower (without removing the picatinny rail) it is because of the two forks that extend down into the mag well. The tips of these forks will give some when you pry/rotate it out and you can actually remove a touch of material from their tips (where you see the rub marks) to make it easier next time. You have to lean into at bit when its first done because the fit is tight due to the surface finishes binding. Use a bore snake and the 22 does not need a heck of a lot of cleaning...I run a bore snake every thousand rnds and thats it. You could get a muzzle protector guide for a rod also and just go in from the muzzle if you want to.
