I am looking at Building a 10/22 to closely resemble an AR10/SR25 and I am looking at using one of the 3 setups listed( Ruger SR22,NEA Chasis or Nordic Conversion)

Now I already have a 10/22 Target but would prefer to keep it intact ,so I would be using a base 10/22 for the conversions or just adding to the SR22( stock, grip ,etc)

With cost not being a real concern with this building, which one of the 3 would you personally recommend and why( quality being the main thing I am looking for) please just state your reasons for suggesting the platform you like . I would prefer no arguements against other peoples preferences.

**Also I am not looking at other firearms ex: ISSC MK 22, Mossberg ,Smith and wesson , or actual .22lr AR's)

Thanks in advance for any input .

If it was my rifle given the options you have listed I would choose the SR22(well actually I already have). The SR22 is simply just the Nordic Kit manufactured for Ruger. Availability last time I checked on purchasing the Nordic Kit seperatly from Nordicomp.com was pretty much a no go, been sold out for some time. The NEA chassis I have no personal experience with but for roughly the same money after buying a base 10/22 and then the NEA chassis you can purchase the SR22 and be done with it.

NEA Chassis .. two piece .. need to buy a separate handguard, stock and grip. Nice thing about them, the top rail becomes one long rail when a free float hand guard is installed giving you the monolithic look.

SR/Nordic Chassis .. 3 piece ... need to buy a grip and stock set and a handguard if not bought from Ruger. If you want a long top rail you also need to buy a top rail for the hand guard for the long rail look.

No experience with the NEA chassis at all except for what I have read. Some negative and some positive.

Personally I'd go with the Nordic, seeing that I have built up on two already.

It may be just as well to just buy yourself another rifle starting with the base SR22 model since cost is not a concern ;)

You will spend more building anything on an AR chassis vs. buying an SR-22.
Ruger 10/22 carbine: $230
NEA chassis: $200
FF AR HG': $150 and up
Cheap AR buttstock assembly: $80 and up
A2 pg: $10
Thats $650 plus tax and shipping and you still dont have a single accessorie and have the stock 18.5" barrel Its fun and you have alot more options but the SR-22 can be had for less and is ready to go right out of the box. Just add a scope/rds and your off to the races. The nordic/sr chassis has some limitations like the tall upper rail that doesnt match an AR hg but has the ability to use A2 and similar buttstocks.

Price isn't a concern as much as quality .

I want to put a barrel on that can have a flash suppressor on it anyways , so stock barrel isnt a concern.

Also can all 3 platforms have AR pistol grips , stocks and hand guards put on? For what I have read and seen I believe so.

Yes. And like factionrr already mentioned ... the SR22 is a Nordic Chassis, just rebranded Ruger, so there is only 2

Check out the thread "Pimped SR22's" and you will see a lot of examples of what can be done with them.

What about the Troy T-22 chassis? It runs about $280, I have the sport version and it's a beautiful chassis, they also make a fully railed version if that's your thing.

I already checked out the thread , was the pic of your rifle with the fixed butt stock that gave me the idea for a mini AR10 /SR25 build . and yeah I guess I didnt get what fractionrr was saying. so maybe SR22 is the way to go

That setup as you've seen ...

Sr22. 500
Dlask HG KIT 175
Dlask barrel & break 325
RRA stock 150
Trigger job 80

$1180

Resell of old parts 200

$980 total.

The nordic/sr22's are okay, the forearm attachment isn't 100% rigid though.
The troy is a much nicer option, more rigid, and lighter.
The nea flat out sucks, poor fit and finish, and the way the top cover secures to the reciever is pretty mickey mouse. I had shifting point of impact problems with it when used at 100 yards.
The rb precision evolution is a nice stock, but they're pretty rare at this point (out of production).
There's still a few fabsports fs556 stocks around too, although they're limited to using yankee hill machine forearms.

I've owned them all and the troy wins hands down. The nea would be the worst I've tried. The nordic/sr22 is in the middle of the pack.

since this thread has already been jacked lol i really like this chassis, any plans on a barrel upgrade?

Yessir ;]

I kind of did it in the wrong order, I should have worked on the accuracy first, though I REALLY wanted the chassis...

Anyways, I will be putting a Tactical Solutions 16.5" barrel in Matte O.D. also a few other items such as a KIDD trigger, KIDD CNC black scalloped bolt, etc. I'm over half way through this build and hope to be completely finished by the end of September or so. I keep spreadsheets for all my builds and at this point it's looking like the final overall cost will be roughly $1650...

And just so this post isn't completely off topic, here's the chassis in its stock form:
