Ok I want a pistol grip and the ability to add grips sights slidystock:) for my daughters of different sizes, I have a few 22s. Was looking at mossy flat top but,may just spend a little more and go 1022,for aftermarket goodies.I have a plinkster,it runs good,as good as y buddies 1022.but I like all the after market fun from ruger.
Acrchangel kit? or just save up and get an sr? People with both please chime in.

I too have both Rugers and the SR22 looks bad ass, and you can do whatever you please to it to make it look that much "tacticool", for whatever reason, I don't know why, but the Archangel (Promag Nomad) Kit is the ONLY 10/22 tacticool kit that looks good, the SR22 needs nothing, and if desired you can add as much or little as you please, but it's all personal preference. I keep my 10/22 for a target .22, go crazy with the SR22, HiCal.ca is where I got all my add-ons for my SR22, and there's no shortage of variety on their website either!
 
I was looking at the options a couple of months ago and ended up getting the SR22. Added a scope and it's really fun to shoot. I just didn't feel like wsting a whle lot of time pulling together things and making them all work etc... In the end the price of the SR22 is prolly lower than starting with a 10/22, or at least it's pretty close.
 
SR-22 is a joke... Its a 10/22 in a NC skin. Front heavy and nothing like an ar. If you want a real ar just get a .22 kit for your lower will end up costing the same in the long run...
 
1. SR-22 is ready to go out of the box with just an RDS or scope. No sourcing anything other than optics. Going with BUIS will require sourcing a top rail for the handguard. They are front heavy unless you want to invest in either a shorty barrel, a Tacsol barrel ($200-250) or swap in a ruger sporter barrel.
2. Building will get you exactly what you want, the Archangel with a sporter barrel will be very lightweight which will help keep the girls shooting rather than getting tired and wanting to stop. Archangel is flat top so ready for BUIS or optics.
If it were me I would buy a 10/22 CRR compact and drop it in an Archangel 5.56 with some cheapo knock-off MBUS from Hical. Add a slip-on flash hider for looks and some BC steel lips mags and your GTG. The Ruger sporter chamber is great for bulk ammo. It stays pretty clean and very reliable unlike a match chamber. The bore also resists leading more than a match chamber. And dont forget a BC mag loader. If you dont have one, you need one!
 
I agree with super.... I have the 1022 with the archangel 556 on it... Easy to breakdown and clean... The nomad looks like a nightmare to breakdown... That's why I went with the 556... And you can mall ninja the hell out of it!

Thats great if you want to be limited to the range but for me personally I like the ability to walk around in the country and have fun... to each their own.
 
Yeah I love when hippie berry pickers show up at the gravel pit trying to act nice then see my short, unreasonably aggressive .22s and shotguns. The change in expression and tone is satisfying :D
 
Big drawback to Promag Archangel is you can't field strip the gun without potentially throwing off the zero on your optics. Your forced to "clean" it by holding the gun upside down, dumping a tonne of solvent into the magwell, cycling the action, and wiping off everything that leaks out.

I have one on my Charger, and it's pretty cool and a few years without an actual cleaning and it's still running great.
