I decided to purchase a Ruger SR45 with a stainless slide. The price was right at SFRC. They have great customer service and I like their website and have made previous purchases there with positive review.
Took about a week and a half to receive.
Packed in the standard Ruger hard case with no foam. It's a basic case, I prefer foam but it is what it is. There is a lip on the case for what looks like an optional place to drill a hole for a lock.
The gun was in perfect t shape and had been test fired with the brass included in a small paper envelope.
Comes with 2 mags, a mag loader, and a large padlock.
The SR45 was shipped dry. So I decided to dismantle it and oil it. It's essentially the same as any other striker fired pistol and dismantles very similar to the M&P series.
Took it to the range today and I must say I'm quite impressed. It's accurate and functioned flawlessly.
My target shown is at 8 yards. It grouped quite tight all the way out to 50 yards.
I fed it some blazer, winchester and Wolff reloads... All functioned perfectly.
My only comment is that the grip on the gun is very large. It's fine for me since I'm a big guy 6'2.
But those of you with small hands may have issues with it.
I like the safety on it, for whatever reason I like to use an external safety,
I also like the idea of the loaded chamber indicator on the gun. I think it's of more use to Americans thinking of concealed carry. It's easy to witness the indicator or feel quickly when drawing the gun.
The sights on the gun are very nice, easy to see and adjustable.
The serrations on the slide are nice and deep and make it easy to grip the slide and rack it.
The mags are well made and functionned perfect.
Professional reviews of the gun are all positive and I must say I agree with all of them.
As much as I love the look and history behind the 1911 platform.... I prefer my SR45. (Don't hate me for saying that)
Don't let the negative youtubers with poor shooting technique dissuade you from buying an SR45.
It's now my Favorite handgun!!
Cheers
Target is at 8 yards first 10 rounds out of the gun!
