SRM 1216 shotgun

I"d be interested to see how this would be classified if available here in Canada.
It is a semi auto center fire but technically it has 4 separate 4 round magazines , possible nr classification if it were to have an 18.5" barrel?

Wasn't the "x-rail" classified as a prohib device?
The magazine concept here is pretty much the same...

Wasn't the x-rail an add-on to an existing shotgun? So it is considered a magazine? For example the ruger bx-25 mag is not legal in canada as it fits ruger hand guns. The SRM 1216 is a firearm and would be similar to something like a cz58 which is center fire and has a 30 round mag pinned to 5. As long as the tubes in the 1216 were plugged so only 5 shells can be inserted and the barrel is 18.5" I don't see why it wouldn't be non restricted.

This was discussed previously, concensus was the mag is prohib.

The idea was put around that if there was a CDN friendly version it could be done by making the mag have to be removed to change which tube you fed from. Then its just like coupled mags.

I'm still holding out hope for a mag-fed semi from Canada ammo. Norinco makes them already.

This sounds like something Tactical Imports may be interested in, and I'm interested to know the legal classification of that "16" round magazine.

This is where I believe you guys may not be following my drift . This is four , 4 round magazines coupled together. By rotating the coupled magazines you are actually doing a magazine change. It is legal to couple as many magazines as you want together is it not? It's done all the time with lar15 mags and magpul's system is also readily available , so why couldn't you couple tube magazines together?

I was thinking the same thing, it is technically four 4-rd magazines attached to each other for quicker reloading. You still have to manually switch the tubes just like you have to manually do a mag change on coupled rifle mags. So going by their owner's manual of 18.5" barrel length, it should be an non-restricted firearm. However, RCMP will still likely arbitrarily classify it as prohib mag and restricted firearm; due to the sheer awesomeness of this shotgun. ;)

I only just noticed now that each time you rotate the mag, it automatically chambers a round if there's an empty chamber.

Because of this, I take back my opinion the 4x4 mag being legal; to me, this shotgun now seems more like a single-action revolver.

Already classified; the magazines are considered one, even though they need to be rotated. Cool gun though; we had a chance to handle one at SHOT

Too bad. Consolation is the Kel-Tec KSG pump, non-R.
Pump = no mag limit, I think it's 14+1.
Just not sure of Kel-Tec's long term reliability.
