SS barrel with black flutes?

I am thinking of getting the flutes on ss barrel coloured black on my new project, what is the best coating to use? And how should I prepare my barrel for the coating?

Why use black paint in the flutes? Does this dissipate heat faster? For some reason I thought it would retain heat longer.

Black kringle painted headers on small block Chevy's cool off faster than smooth white painted headers, cold water heats faster than warm water, warm water cools faster than cool water... physics, strange stuff sometimes eh LOL

you know Ive heard that as well about the water, but it just dont work for me. try it. put a pot of cold water on the stove and a pot of hot water. the hot water boils alot faster.

Anodizing or lacquer. Brownell's sells a spray on lacquer. Not exactly cheap though. $18.74US for an 8 oz can.

I used a bake on enamel on one I did and it worked out fine. It is done for appearance only. Regards, Bill.
