SSG 08 - marketing for a new age?

I dont mind the video. European style/conditions hunting using a rifle they can handle and have confidence in and featuring a very competent and confident young lady. So far so good! If my daughter wanted to take my steyr M300 out for a deer hunt with the same care as this young lady...I'd be delighted ....now on the other hand if my daughter demanded a 30/30 winchester 94 to go deer hunting...I would be horrified. Different strokes for different folks. Besides...if you can only have one rifle...I'd be pleased with an SSG 08. And if that video encourages more ladies to take up 'informed' hunting...I am all for it.

I dare you to watch and hold your tears:

Ten minutes of "WHY" flashing through my head non stop. Someone at Steyr thinks it is a good advertisement and they keep sponsoring her making this sacrilege.

I'm not sure what you are complaining about:confused: A nice young girl hunting with a fine rifle, harvesting game for the freezer, looks like a win win win situation to me.

Yes it is very odd. But the video already has 650k views so maybe it does achieve something.

In the youtube economy views and subscribers are sold and bought. Bot farms can rack you a million views at no time as long as clueless advertiser is ready to buy a spot from you.

Let's see, a clearly staged multiple walks with a rifle she carriers for 5 meters tops and nice angles to as she sets it up with no intention to shoot (and you know that because big green ear muffs only appear at the time she shoots) result in a shoot at the dark and a search for the animal with a flashlight in a bush. All done by a "competent" young girl who can't even sharpen a knife she happens to promote in a previous video.

This is so fake, staged and superficial... well fine, maybe I'm just old and cynical.

Maybe you need a better hobby instead of investing so much time complaining about a simple video on youtube.

Well of course it is 'staged' ...... can you imagine a 'real' unstaged deer hunt in northern Ontario.....

Scene 1 - 34 hours of unedited footage of a slightly overweight mill worker sitting on a stump in the cold snow staring off into the distance down a power line with bleary red eyes and periodically looking down at his frozen feet while he stamps them because he cant feel them anymore and he cant see through the frozen fog left by his breath on his scope.... wondering if there is just one more Snickers bar hidden in his parka somewhere that he hasnt eaten yet. The only noise other than the howling wind ... is that nasty little chipmunk that has been screaming his head off at the hunter for the last three hours.

Scene 2 - 28 hours of climbing up and down oak ridges across beaver dams and beating your way through tag alders with your rifle barrel because you are trying to follow a straight compass line to that very promising gully between the two small lakes ..... that you never find.... all the while slipping on rocks and stepping in deep holes that have been hidden by the snow. Which is when you realize that maybe you are lost (but you dont tell the camera man -- who has never been hunting and is now out of breath and hopelessly soaking with sweat.) Then after all this -- on the way back to camp, before the camerman dies of hypothermia, you see a runty little 'spike' that qualifies for your tag .... and when you quickly raise your rifle to shoot it -- the camerman asks if he can take a picture through your scope ( a nice effect) ... after you tell him to fxck off .... you turn just in time to see the white tail of the spike disappear over a hill ... the last deer you will see this year!

I vote for the girl and her SSG 08!!! I dont care if its staged .... I dont go to the movies to see a replay of my miserable life!!

(of course ... you could forgo the cameraman ... and walk around the bush with your rifle in one hand and in the other, one of those long sticks with a camera on the end that those Chinese kids always have.... I'd pay to see that!!!!)

Good videos....he apparently had a 'stick camera' in the second one :)

The first was a 'shooting' vid (and I enjoyed it also) while the second was a 'hunting' vid....both good ...although without being there it certainly appears the second was the tougher of the two.
