SSG 3000 pics and info - update post #76

Thanks for the pictures.

Any further info on Border Barrels adapter? I can't seem to find it on their website. What is the availability of spare mags for this rifle?

You're welcome. I have been informed that Border does not list the adapter on their website; a phone call is required. We are working to bring the barrel extensions in (may be a few months).

MD Charlton, this is a one time deal or your planning to bring more SSG 3000 in Canada ?

We have many more of these rifles on order. Unfortunately, delivery is currently unknown.

I bought the one from p and d! Lucky me! What you guys think I should put on it for optics? I was thinking nightforce nxs.....

See pics. Definitely Kahles...

I'm curious to know about the ssg3000s at cabelas. They have a different stock and cost the same as the McMillan version. Who makes this stock? Is the action the same as the patrol version? Removeable barrel? Is this a cabelas exclusive?

Also wondering if our local vendors can order in spare mags for us too.

Thanks!

And then stamped "Exeter New Hampshire"? That stamp or engraving is also done prior to the finish being applied to the action by looking at the pictures

Still at it today eh?! … They are stamped in Germany. The actions, bolts, receivers and barrels are 100% made in Germany, Brian. Are you a TI employee? Lol

at what? I have got different answers from sig usa and sig germany long before this question popped up on the forum.

The US government import laws regarding a certain number of parts on the firearm must be made in the usa are factual, sig would not have opened a manufacturing facility there otherwise.

Who is TI?

I think those U.S. import laws regarding the number of U.S. parts are only relevant to evil black rifles (aka semi-automatic rifles). I don't think they apply to manual bolt action rifles.

What would make you think that?

What I'm really curious to know is what happens to the 11% Federal tax that's placed on firearms in the US and how that plays into the retail pricing here considering that dealers here should not be paying for that when firearms are exported by way of the USA.

I was only joking bro...
Have a great weekend!

then why are we seeing different configurations of the same pistols, semi autos and bolt action rifles from the us plants than we get here in canada direct from the european plants?

You are incorrect.

Some companies do not subtract or refund the FET ( Federal Excise tax), some keep that for the extra hassle and trouble they take for exports...

The Cabelas rifle is an exclusive deal they have worked with Sig. The actions are the same; I do not know who produces the stock.

Spare mags are available through any dealer (just not in stock at the moment).

With reference to Federal Excise Tax, Sig does not charge the FET on export orders.

I just want to say that I got my SSG 3000 from Wanstalls and I am really very happy with it. I'm a newbie to shooting this kind of rifle and I'm not a great shooter. My son and I are both able to get less than an inch groups at 100M and we are still just getting used to the gun. I just put the scope on it that day. The lock up on the bolt is so solid. I did have one surprise. I neck sized some Nosler Match ammo brass and put together a test round. It loaded hard and scratched the lower part of the brass pretty badly. I seem to have to full lenth resize for this rifle. No problem but I just expected to only neck size it. No results on reloads yet.

Please keep us posted on barrel availability. I'll keep an eye out for a replacement barrel at some point.
I could use a couple more spacers for the stock too. If you are ordering in any more rifles and can get bits like that, let us know. I'll buy mine through Wanstalls.

Thanks for bringing them in!

Thank you for your feedback.

We are working on extra barrels; no time frame yet.

MD Charlton,

Any updates on barrel adapters from Border Barrels? Also looking for a spare mag for my SSG 3000.

Thanks

Border is able to make complete barrels, but not the adapter (as we were informed at IWA). We are pursuing a Canadian option, but no time frame is available.

Mags may be ordered through any local dealer (we are currently sold out, more on the way).

MDC
