SSG 3000 vs Tikka T3 Tactical - Is one better than the other for 600+yards?

I bought a left hand T3 Varmint. I put a heavy 26" 6.5-284 barrel on it. A MCRS tactical stock bedded and pillared. A 12oz Yodave trigger spring, a 20 MOA Near rail with alpha mount and topped it off with a NXS 5.5-22x50 MOAR-T. This is a fun little rig out to a 1000 yards. Best group to date is .207". Consistently shoots in the .3&.4's. I think the T3 is a great platform to build from.
I bought a LH T3 light stainless in 270 win for a deer gun. First test loads I shot a .343" group. IMO the Tikka is pretty tough to beat.
 
I would bet that if you took 10 Tikkas and 10 SSG's and shot them all, there would be no real difference between the brands. They both shoot great and both have some guns above and below the average. If you read up on the Osoyoos 1000 yard fun shoot, you will see that factory Tikkas in 7mm RM kept up with custom guns. Tikkas are fine rifles...

Remember what you paid for free advice and most people that answer questions like yours answer in a way that reinforces their own choices (good or bad) . I would personally just buy what I wanted to buy and have fun. It won't be your last gun and if you want to sell it and try something else, both fetch a good penny second hand. Less surfing and more shooting.
 
Thanks again for the feedback everyone. I ended up with a Tikka T3 CTR. Found one locally for a great price. The Tikka has a very nice action, super slick. In the end, I didn't think that were was going to be enough of a performance difference to justify the higher price, certainly not at my current skill level. The only really serious issue with the rifle is the cost of the magazines - almost $300 per mag (if you can find one)! It would be cheaper to get a fabricator to cnc mill one out of aluminum I think. A summer project to try out for sure.

The SSG 3000 is still a very interesting piece from a gear acquisition perspective. I'd love to add one to my collection one day but for now I'm very happy with the CTR. I just need to find some longer ranges to really bring out the best this rifle has to offer.

Sell your mag for $300 and buy a lumley arms bottom metal and some aics mags.

Yep its wider to accept the double stack TRG magazine.
But if you're going aftermarket it needs inletting anyway. the CTR would be closer to an AICS conversion than the standard tikka.
The action is the same as every other T3 so going AICS is going to to be the same process as any other T3

Lumley arms makes a bottom metal that takes AICS mags and uses the factory bottom metal outline.

So i looked into this.
You still need to inlet the stock for the magazine to clear. since an AICS mag wont actually fit through the factory unlett.. my Alpha industries mags do.... JUST.. if there is any kind of liner with the Lumley, which it looks like there is, then you're going to need to inlet it. ( tried this on my T3 lite, Tactical and Sporter stocks )
SO...a CTR might accept one of the aftermarket brands with 0 modification.. a standard T3 wont..

Yeah opening up the mag well to accept the wider double stack mag is easy. I was more interested in the outline of the bottom metal because its much harder to re-inlet the outline.

My tikka sporter has a lumley bottom metal. It works great and was a quick install.
