Do any off you hunt with sst bullets? I just loaded bullets for my 30-06 in 165 grain. They group very good but have never hunted with them.

I used 30 cal 150 gr SSTs in my 300 win mag a few years back one year. Shot an antelope and a couple deer with it. Was awesome. At just under 400 yds got a bang flop on a big mule deer buck. Buddy shot a caribou with same load last year with awesome results. Seem like a great bullet even at pretty high velocities.

Can be messy if you happen to hit bone. My bud shot a real nice Mule buck on the front shoulder, 257 Weatherby, and completely destroyed it. FS

Ive never hunted with them. Just about every time Ive tried them for accuracy, I just cant find it. Nosler Ballistic Tip is 10x the bullet IMO

I'll second that todbartell . I have used ballistic tips for years and they are an excellent bullet.

I found them very frangible, so poor weight retention. I have seen them hit a small mule in the front shoulder and pretty much explode. It took a second shot in the pump house to stop it. I am very much a Nosler guy.

The nosler ballistic tip is not made for sub sonic loads . The bullet opens up on impact like it is designed to do. This and shot placement makes it an excellent hunting bullet. I have killed several large animals with this type bullet. The farthest any had ran was a 6' cinnamon bear and that was 30 yards.

I am having trouble finding acurracy with sst bullets. Using interlocks iget the best accuracy. Thanks for all the information.

I've used 130 gr sst in my 270 and the accuracy is great but I have only shot 1 deer with them. The deer was trotting off the field and he dropped and skid a bit. Seemed to work great (it was only a 40 yrd shot mind you).
