Staball match in 338 win mag

Hodgdon didn't do any data yet for the 338wm but they did for the 338 Weatherby RPM, which has slightly less case capacity than the 338wm

They did up to 225gr for the RPM, 59.5 grains StaBALL Match @ 2732 fps. You should be able to work up a hair more than this, in a modern strong 338wm rifle.

I have an 8lb jug of StaBALL Match sitting at home, but have been too busy fishing this summer to crack the seal yet. I'll be trying it in my 338-06 for sure!

Not being familiar with stabal match, I looked it up on the 2023 hodgedon burn rate chart. It's in the varget range, two powders slower than varget. Other powders really close are win 748,760, and h380.

Seems pretty fast for 338wm. At the very least it would be better for small for caliber bullets.....the 165gr-to maybe 200gr. I've reloaded 338wm for years, your typically getting into medium slow to slooow powders. ....4350, 4831, larger reloader #'s.....that class powder. Take a look at recommended powders from a few sources, find them on the burn chart. I'd bet stabal match is faster.

Not saying it wouldn't work. Just be careful and realize you might not get good performance.

Eh no warning shot I’ve been looking and cross referencing many books yes it’s by varget ....so my plan was to start low and work up ...but first I need a scope and then off to the bench load up and go
#4 barns reloading book lists varget ...I will be using barns 210 gr ttsx bullets and lad radar to verify speed and then get my dope
