Stabilizing the 762 x 39

So I'm taking the plunge and buying a CZ;partially because of the cheap/powerful ammo (mostly because its mega awesome).
Prior to this decision I was intending on grabbing myself an AR; So I researched ways to stabilize the 5.56 x 45 via barrel length/twist and whatnot.

I'm wondering if the CZ 858 has various twist rates that could be applied/ which barrel length is ideal for the 762 soviet.

Any info would be great appreciated!

Anything other than a stock barrel would have to be a custom blank. Stock barrel works well enough that it can shoot the garbage surplus out there to 3-4MOA consistently. If you want better results, scope the rifle and hand load for it. Once you get a load it likes you should be into the 1.5MOA to 2MOA. If you want more accuracy than that, get a CZ 527 Carbine in 7.62x39mm and handload for it. Nothing beats a nice bolt action!
 
hodgdon.com will give you loading data. Be aware that the S&B ammo has to have the primer pocket reamed or swaged before you can reload it.
I use the Dillon swager tool; easily the fastest method.

I have had good luck with the following: Lapua brass, Federal primers, Reloader 7 (25.5 grains) and Sierra 125 grain .311 bullets. This was used in a CZ527 Carbine. I don't reload for my 858, just use Norinco surplus in it.

I've read in other threads that many people that reload for the 7.62 x 39 can't get their reloads to match 123g spec velocity. Many seem to only be able to reach 2100fps.

Also many who have tested Czech surplus have found that there is much less variation in velocity from round to round than you would expect for surplus ammo.

That's because their ammo has gone though more stringent quality control!

Their ammo is more accurate in the CZ because..... Czech+Czech = Double Czeched!
 
In my AR in 7.62 x 39 I use 24.7 gr.s of Reloder 7 with a Hornady 123 gr. VMax bullet. I don't know the velocity but I am not too worried about it. It does shoot just under an inch with 5 shot groups at 100 m.

PS: I told all my shooting buddies about this thread. Very funny! They are all Czeching it out as we speak.

I never thought too much of the accuracy of the surplus ammo until my Girlfriend bought a CZ527 bolt action. It shoots 3/4 inch groups at a 100 yards, which is about the same as the good quality soft points, only the soft points are loaded a bit hotter and shoots slightly higher than the surplus. I think the quality of the CZ barrels is a bit better as well. I don't get as good groups out of most of SKS.
