Stack On PC 650 Electronic Pistol Case....odor?

I have one of the James Bondish Stack On Electronic Pistol cases for transporting,and as nifty as this little case is,it stinks to high heaven when I open it up....sort of a strong mothball petroleum sort of odor.At first I thought it was some sort of manufacturing "new" smell...but it never went away.If I open the case in a room everyone can notice it. Has anyone else experienced this?.... is the foam liner impregnated with something?....or is it just a stinky...umm...box?

Could be formaldehyde in the foam liner, some underlay for carpet was made using this type of foam and it would fill the room and make your eyes sore.

I was thinking it was some sort of moisture protection impregnated into the foam....but if its just the nature of the beast,I'm going to remove it and replace it with something else. CT sells the PC650... if you get a chance this weekend while at CT ,open one up...its an eye opener
