Pieces are all in. Finally have the right barrel. I put it together but still need to get a reaction rod and setup my vice. Then I will torque it all down. Have to say I'm pretty happy with how it seems right now. I think I hit what I was going for.
A little bit nose heavy but... empty mag and no optics on it yet. Should balance it out nicely. It feels fairly handy. Not as heavy as most of my AR308 rifles. This is however a compromise rifle. It's put together for hunting/tactical target. So the compromise is a medium hybrid barrel. Plus a slightly shorter lightweight handguard. Anyways I'm really liking how this has turned out so far. I'll have to get everything tightened up and then add on the few minor extras such as harris bipod and magpul vertical grip along with optic.

I'm thinking of going with the Burris Veracity 3-15X FFP that I have sitting around. I would go with a quick release mount. I also have a Burris E1 3-9X in a quick release mount that would work if I want lighter and less magnification. But as this is a compromise rifle, I'm thinking the Veracity since it has target turrets but also caps along with First focal plane. It's a scope that is designed for the same purposes as this rifle. Target and or hunting. jack of all trades, rather than a super light hunting rifle or a super heavy target rifle.
Here's a picture of the Burris in the quick mount on a H&K MR308. The Veracity is bigger. The 3-9x is only on the H&K for reference. I have another E1 in 4.5-14x that will go on the H&K.
I know, not the most expensive optics. But they do work very well for me. I do have more expensive optics kicking around as well. My SR25 has an older NF. I just can't afford to put expensive optics on everything. So I try to go with decent optics at the price point.
On a side note, the Stag 10 is a heck of a lot lighter than the MR308!!

I guess I should have also listed the parts in this Stag 10 rifle.
Part list:
1) Stag 10 upper/lower from Arms East.
2) BCG Stag 10 from Arms east along with Stag 10 charging handle, buffer and buffer spring.
3) Badger ordnance gen 1 tactical latch
4) Colt USA carbine buffer tube 4 position only. Generally prefer 6 but in this case the 4 seems to work perfect. (Stag 10 uses DPMS compatible parts so no need for longer Armalite AR10 carbine buffer)
5) Ergo surfire Grip
6) MI MLok handguard 12" (Actually they are 12.5") If you want to cover the gas block then you need their 15" version. I'm happy with how mine turned out. a 13" would also have worked very well (possibly slighter better) if they offered one.
7) SLR nitride adjustable set screw gas block
8) Lantac nitride rifle length gas tube
9) Criterion 20" hybrid 1:11.25 twist 308 nitride barrel. (Note these use a standard rifle length gas tube, while other barrels made by Criterion may require the Armalite length gas tube)
10) AAC brakeout 2.0 muzzle brake/flash hider. If we were allowed suppressors, it offers a quick detach system for them.
I do have gieselle trigger sitting here. But.. after doing the paracord trick to the stag 10 stock trigger, I may very well leave it as is. The weight is a bit heavy at an estimated 5 pounds but it's clean and smooth. I can shoot a heavy trigger if it's smooth with a crisp let off. So I'm going to hold off swapping out the trigger and see if it's even required.
I'll have to blacken out that silver piece on the SLR gas block.
There are fancier and more expensive ones out there, but I'm liking how this one has turned out so far. Just have to get it torqued down, optics on it and see how it shoots.

Finally got my X Caliber 45 Raptor barrel. I am going to build it tonight hopefully. The quality of this is amazing, it's probably the nicest barrel I've seen, I feel bad taking potato photos of it. I'm definitely going to order more barrels from X Caliber, my next build will be probably a 22-250.

Do the mags still require modifying with that feed ramp? That is going to be a hammer!!
I think so. I will have to cut .5” off the follower and put some plastic in the magazine with some feed ramps cut in it.

oh yeah. once i get my finances in order i wanna build a few different guns. and it will be a learning experience too, i know basic assembly and disassembly with the military but not a whole lot about actually tearing a gun apart like you do. so i cant wait.

So finally got my optic mounted and got some rounds down range with mixed results.
The plus was that the gun functioned perfectly, zero FTF or FTE.
The bad was that of multiple 5 shot groups the last 2 always seem to go haywire, I'm not ruling out operator but many of the Flyers felt like good shots. I was getting better groups with letting the barrel sit for a minute between shots but still not stellar. The hirtenberger had the worst accuracy by far followed by the federal, and I'd say a tie between the cheap Remington stuff and the Hornaday match.
I went over all the scope mounts and double checked the barrel nut stayed tight. I will try some 175 and 180 grain to see if that helps.
Not sure if there is anything else I should check or if this is acceptable accuracy from an average shooter and an average trigger.
One other unusual thing is that the federal ammo had a point of impact 4 inches higher than the others, which had consistent points of impact.

For me, it’s always the first round that’s a flier. I think it’s because releasing the bolt isn’t the same as it ejecting and loading itself.
Your gun probably still needs to be broken in. How long are you waiting between shots?
It shouldn’t have a problem shooting 1.5 MOA with good ammo. Does your magazine hit the rest?
That group with the Federal 5 shots, makes me believe he found the right ammo for that barrel. The two fliers look to be shooter induced. Horizontal and to the right... right hand shooter, probably breathing/trigger control. Could be fliers, but the pattern I've seen with more than a few shooters before. Alternatively I've also seen that when the wind picks up noticeably. Could be drifting the rounds to the right if they were shot under different wind conditions than the rest of the group. Be interesting to see some more groups with that ammo to see if there are random fliers or if it is shooter/condition induced.
