Well I have all the stuff , but it's not running right:runaway:. I have just put in a CTC Buffer assy kit to finish it but it won't keep running. Anyway the issue is a fail to feed properly /jamming forward without picking the round up out of the magazine. HMMMM , well I have picked up a second mag and will try it tomorrow. I'll weigh the buffer to see its weight. Any Ideas ? Leave a comment if you think you know what it is. Thanks

I have PISTOL MAGS so no need to freak out that I have shot more than 5 rounds without reloading

It states right from the CFO's webpage "CFO special bulletin # 72
4. Magazines designed for one firearm but used in a different firearm

The maximum permitted capacity of a magazine is determined by the kind of firearm it is designed or manufactured for use in and not the kind of firearm it might actually be used in. As a consequence, the maximum permitted capacity remains the same regardless of which firearm it might be used in.

Example:
The Marlin model 45 (Camp Carbine) rifle chambered for 45 Auto caliber uses magazines designed and manufactured for the Colt 1911 handgun, therefore the seven round and eight round capacities are permitted."

Well, your video doesn’t show anything other than that you have some kind of issue. Would have been better if you just snapped a pic of the ejection port while your malfunction is present.

I’m presuming this is a U-build, did you use the proper 308 buffer assembly and not an AR15 buffer assembly?

To clarify, the malfunction you’re experiencing is the BCG is going into battery, you pull the trigger, click, the BCG didnt strip a round out of the mag? Nothing is getting hung up, no rounds are getting jammed up? It’s just strictly not stripping another round out of the magazine?

If as I said above is the case, your BCG is likely moving to fast to strip a round. Did you use an adjustable gas block? If not I’d recommend going that route. Normally I’m a firm believer of using a properly weighted buffer to match your rig but 308 parts just aren’t as readily available but an adjustable gas block would likely solve that problem, if my assumptions above are correct.

The XCR mags suck in the Stag's. Countless problems with them failing to feed and falling out. Get Pmag's and carry on.

I've run both in mine with 0 feeding issues. I'm running a rifle length gas system with an adjustable gas block. I'm also running a rifle length buffer and strike ind flatwire spring. I also have a JP LMOS HP bolt and carrier. The gun is a 6.5 CM, which are more prone to feeding/reliability issues.

Only issue was the xcr mag won't drop free. It did when I first got it so maybe I damaged it.

FoxAlpha Yes proper buffer (3.8OZ) /spring from CTC in the included buffer tube, no the BCG is not closing it isn't properly stripping the round from the mag.. The BCG traps the bullet itself partially on the feed ramps . Ill have to order a different variety of mags , thanks for the suggestions, they mirror my thinking.

Understood, maybe ask around and see if anyone local can lend you a variety of mags before you go and invest a bunch of money on mags.

I just checked the buffer weight that came with my Stag 10... 3.8 oz. Cycled fine with 18.6 barrel and rifle length gas. My stag came with a Palmetto State PA-10 buffer tube. About 1 inch longer than a carbine tube...(A5 length) but that should not affect cycling.

I just watched the video...cycled fine for first 5 rounds...maybe mag issue? Maybe gun just needs to break in? Notice that the rounds tend to eject rearward...just barely coming out. Maybe not enough gas? Lotsa guys had problems with misaligned gas blocks right from stag...hole slightly blocked. Also...some guys have issues with gas tube slightly too short. Some brands of Ar10 not quite standard length...seems to me Dpms and Armalite style require slight different gas tube...recently there was a thread about this.

I made this video talking about the use of a 10 round magazine in a centerfire rifle
