Stag 10 issues feeding

Stagger the gaps in the three gas rings 120° apart around the bolt. Do not align the gaps.

Would this cause an issue like this?

What is a reasonable expectation for cycling of ammo in a properly functioning bone stock factory Stag 10 in 308?

Mine continues with shortstroking and undergassing symptoms, after two trips back to place where I bought it ( trip one had gas block out of align with loose set screws)

(Trip two to shop they replaced the gas rings).

The only consistent cycling of the various 308 I have had on hand has been with 180 grain Winchester, anything in the 150 grain range ( surplus/Win/Rem/Aguila/Barnaul) has been lucky to get a second shot off ( that would be the Aguila for seconds) and definitely no last round hold open.

Are my expectations of cycling a 150 grain 308 thru a Stag 10 a bit to much?

Nope, I use 147 grain campros that I handload for plinking. And they are not hot either. Cycle perfectly.

In a quick follow up to my STAG 10 story, took video of the thing failing to run properly on a few loads. Back to the shop we go. First vid the "smith" says I am not seating the mag ( complete horse sh*t I say). Second vid and third vid with the fails to feed again showing proper mag insertion etc. Around this time I start questioning what he had done for checking spec on the barrel port, Claims it was done, on questioning if he had checked spec for port hole in the gas tube the "gunsmith" got quite evasive as I was asking about possible "chokepoints" in the gas flow.

At this point he got fairly agitated, I must admit that I was pushing a few buttons. Around this time the bonehead said the only thing that could be done was mill out the barrel port ( voiding the warrantee) and that I was "shooting the gun wrong" ( I'm 250 lb and was shooting from the bench, not sure what else can be done there) when asked how I should be shooting the gun, he was unable to give any legible explanation and actually contradicted what one of the shop workers had said about direct impingement functioning 10 minutes prior.

Long story short, got a full refund on the Stag.

Moral of the story, never purchase a semi with out an iron clad written guarantee that it will be running perfectly out the door and stick to piston drive.

You dont have it anymore but did you check if the gas key was tight?

There are plenty that are working good. I don’t think the ar-10 has guns are bad guns cuz that. Bolt action is the best thing to have though. Simplicity is good

Gas key was tight, I was trying to get the gun smith to investigate the port on the distal end of the gas tube for adequate diameter, it was the only place I could think of that was left for a choke point in gas flow. the jackass/"gunsmith" just wasn't listening to reason and was to busy trying to come up with excuses, ie Question: Did you check the gas hole on the far block end of the gas tube? Answer : I know what I am doing , you are shooting the gun wrong LOL. At that point I must say we were at un reconcilable differences in that particular shop. A pity cause as a bolt action that stag was kind of accurate. Got a line on a robinson XCR now, at least we know they work.
