Stag 10 issues?

I'm figuring mine is gonna cost me about $2500 all in without mags, backup sights or an optic (I have a couple to choose from already). So far I have a stripped receiver set in hand, buffer tube assembly (sans buffer or spring) inbound from AEast and a BCG/charging handle/trigger and everything else needed for the upper coming from Brownells. Ordered a Proof barrel (22" 6.5) and otherwise need a hand guard, gas block, buffer and spring. I'll most likely put in another Brownells order shortly. Woulda been cheaper to buy a complete one but I get a better barrel, trigger (Geiselle) and an adjustable gas block.

This being my first AR I also went with a complete rifle, the magpul enhanced in .308. I looked at the cost of doing a build for cheap and figured that any savings weren't worth it. It helped that I got lucky at a sale and was able to save a bit, easy decision.

I have yet to fire it but hope to correct that soon, got hirt and GMM among others to try but those will be the main fodder.

Hirt should shoot great.
The fact that you have a rifle that is classified non restricted, and warrantied for life is sweet too...
Built rifles are not warranty.

I seldom concern myself with the warranty side of things. I have several full custom builds I've done my self with various platforms and warranty has never even been a passing thought.

Well, I checked out my Stag10 last night when I got home. Fit and finish is awesome. There's very little rattle between the upper and lower. Trigger is typical mil-spec but it's smoother than the one that was in my DD. I'll be upgrading this trigger very shortly.

I was having a hard time locking the bolt back with the factory charging handle as I could only get the bolt to lock back on the magazine follower. Once I pull the empty mag out, the bolt will release and slam forward. I swapped that out for a Radian ambi one and I can now get the bolt to catch on the bolt catch properly. I will do a more thorough assessment and align/snug down the gas block if required.

I wish I had more of the hirt, only have one case of it. I have some south african battle packs but I have been told it is a hotter load, is it safe to use in the Stag? Also got some czech corrosive steel case but I don't think I will be putting any of that in my new baby lol. Got some norc and american eagle to round it out, not counting my hunting rounds stash.

I am going to save the GMM for when I really feel the need to print small groups.

I just put my first 20 rounds through mine and ended up FTFing for like 16 rounds. Pretty new to ARs, but it seems like a mag issue to me.

Is it just almost going into battery?

Make sure the bolt is well lubed. Sometimes it can be sticky when it's new. Pull the BCG out and work it a few times.

Did you disassemble the BCG and lube up the bolt?

That's what I was seeing throughout my first 20 rounds through the gun, but I did just shoot it straight out of the box. I'll give that a try and maybe shoot it again today, this time on steel. At least the gun is zeroed.

I think that might be your problem there. Out of the box, my rifle was kinda on the dry side. There was only very light oil on the bolt, barely anything on the upper receiver and a lot of it on the trigger group. I had a hard time being able to pull the bolt far enough for the bolt catch to engage on the face of the bolt using the charging handle. After doing a full strip and clean, it was a lot smoother to operate. Can't wait to get a chance to shoot this puppy!

It looks like your bolt didn’t go all the way back to catch the round. Check the gas block alignment and tightness.

Your bolt looks fairly dry also.
