Hey all,

Any southpaws have an experience with a Stag 10 in a right hand configuration? Im planning on building one gradually over the next few months, just debating whether or not the price difference is worth it for the left handed upper, and lower.

Thanks!

I'm a lefty. All my bolt guns are LH.

A LH AR? I've never seen the need to be honest. There aren't any issues with a LH shooting using an AR with a brass deflector. The increased price upfront, reduced price on resale - PLUS getting used to everything being 'backwards'? No - not for me thanks!

Even LH shotguns (other than cast-off for the stock) are dumb. Why anyone would need a LH 870 is beyond me.... it's easier and faster to reload as a LH with a RH shotgun!

I was a little confused, because a few folks I was speaking with were saying the Stag 10 isn't as easy to customize as a reg AR. I like my AMBI safety, and my Charging handle to have wings on both sides. I mean i don't really care about where the brass ejects. After more research on the STAG, it looks like i can do more with it than what I was told initially.

I have a Rightie Stag 10, and am a leftie like you, and one reason you may not have thought of yet, is aftermarket parts for these rifles are al almost exclusively right hand only.
Bolt catch and BCG upgrades are not available in left configuration that I could find. I threw a JP LMOS BCG and high pressure bolt into mine, and phoned JP to see if there were leftie versions, and they said no.
As for ejection for us lefties, it is a non issue for for being a right ejection, plus I use a brass catcher anyways.
I do a fair bit of single loading in mine, and when you have a Bad Lever or other aftermarket bolt catch, it then makes it slick as anything to shoot a righty AR, plus get an ambitious charging handle, and you are good to go with the right handed version.

I disagree. I'm a lefty, left eye and hand dominant. I always shoot both eyes open.

My first AR was a C7 almost 20 years ago and it was issued without safety glasses. I got burning powder in the right eye much too often during my short service. Even with glasses you get small amounts of oil and crap in your face. And with a catastrophic failure you'll get steel in your face. Accidents happen. Even if you never make mistakes (really?) defective ammo exist, steel fatigue, etc.

Lefties are used to compromise and adapt. But righties wouldn't want to shoot a lefty gun. So given the choice I will always choose a lefty gun.

My AR15 is a left Stag and I really like it. With a left Stag10 or Stag15 the only restriction is to keep the factory Stag BCG and upper receiver. Beside that you can still put 10000$ of parts on it, including titanium firing pin, extractor, gas key, ejection cover, whatever.

Buy the left hand Stag 10!

Trust me from experience. Do it right the first time, otherwise it will cost you double when you have to buy it the second time. The reasons I shoot left hand rifles today is because I can. It was not an option as a child, only right hand was available. I also don't like the hot brass ejecting across my face.
Another option is to learn to shoot right handed. I also recommend keeping both eyes open. I aim with one eye and track my target with the other eye.
P.S. When sourcing parts, please let me know if you find a lower price pencil barrel. I want to reduce the weight of my Stag 10 left hand.
PM if you would like to discuss more, I will send you my phone #.

I am a lefty and was CF

If you are getting a bunch of oil and stuff coming out the ejection port you are putting to much oil on it. Not worth the cost for a lefty gun. Just get a righty and live happy

And each to their own what works for them. I’m very dominant left handed, left eye.
All my bolt guns are lefties, and would never go back, but for ARs, and if upgrading parts, especially BCG etc, are on your upgrade list, then a right handed version is the only way to go.
As for ejection issues, I have several ARs, and owned others over the years, all righties, fried many thousands of rounds of 223/308 and now Creedmoor, and never had one issue firing them left handed, with right side ejection. So a non issue to me, and any other people I know and shoot with. Never even thought about powder burn-eye problems? I am reloading everything though, and others may have had issues with mil spec ammo and this is a known issue for it? Plus should always wear glasses and then no worries regardless.
I will say though, if the parts I wanted to upgrade my stag were available in left handed version, I’d have bought a leftie.
So no real wrong answer here, just what are your long term plans for it? If keeping it stock, then leftie is great, and if you plan on major upgrades in the future, right handed is definitely an easier route to take, and the right hand ejection will not be any impediment.

I own a Lefty and love it. that being said I have shot the stag 10 in right-handed and no Issues. it shoots the brass at like 90 degrees. I also own a few right-handed AR15's and have never had an issue. As far as changing parts my understanding the only thing that is proprietary is the cut of the upper and lower reciever.
