Stag 10 mag release question

Picked up a Stag 10 look in .308. While loading and dropping mags, I notice the magazine catch bar was binding on the receiver.

It seemed when I pressed the mag release button, the mag catch bar on the opposite side had just enough play to catch the receiver. had enough clearance to move and catch the edge of the receiver.

I was able to rotate the mag catch one full rotation to seat properly, however the thread end sticks through the mag release button.

Is this causing any undo wear? the mags drop clear, but I'd say the mag catch, button, and spring are threaded tighter then needed.

Should I leave it as is with extra tension or should I back it off a twist and just not push the mag release as deep?

I'd rather have a mag release that functions correctly and deal with a little extra thread protruding through. Then again, if it were me I'd just file down the threaded portion of the release to where it no longer protruded.

Yea it's not the thread protruding I'm.worried about, it's just whether I've eliminated one problem and created another.

From what I read online it's seems you tighten it until the mag catch is fit well, it just usually sits flush on the button side.

Three things

1) you were absolutely right. Thanks!

2) checking YouTube, recommendation was to tape the side of receiver to avoid scratching. it worked awesome

3) I uses a plastic bic pen to press mag release button far enough in that the mag catch bar cleared the bolt release paddle while loosening and tightening.

Just a question for my knowledge: I see many requests regarding the STAG assembly and other black receiver sets and am wondering are these faux ARs purchased because of their non-restricted status from only PAL holders who do not have any restricted firearms? Just curious.

Flip your button around 180 degrees. That’s what I did with mine.

^^^^^ First thing I did after cleaning. 100% now. Thought it was just mine as no one else noted an issue.

Not really sure. I think your question is partially right. I have an RPAL and AR15's. I chose the Stag 10 so that I have a modern sporting rifle I can take into the bush non restricted. The larger caliber adds some heft for hunting/precision shooting at distance.
