Is the upgrade to the platinum version worth it?
Yes it is. I have the Primary Arms Platinum 1-8 Griffin FFP Mil. It is a awesome scope, good glass. The platinum series is made in Japan. But it is not light at 27oz, looks to be bomb proof though. I went with the Griffin reticle in case I mount it on other caliber rifles. I have three Primary Arms 1-6 scopes to compare it too, it is much better, but I don't know if it is 3 times price better.
On my lightweight hunting stag 10, I went with a Vortex Razor HD LH 3-15x42. When I ordered it I thought it was the best decent quality light weight scope I could find.
