As the title states, I am looking at a couple more upgrades on my Stag 10. Already decided on MI handguard and Geissele SSA-E trigger, (thanks to all who posted and helped with that decision), but now I am looking at the charging handle and buffer spring assembly.

I’m thinking the Raptor CH would be a good choice, but would love to hear others’ opinions.

As well, I am not too keen on the metallic twang of the buffer assembly and have read that the JP Silent Capture Spring will sort this right out and run flawlessly in the Stag 10. Can anyone using the JP SCS comment on noise reduction and performance?

Thanks!

I installed both of the items you had listed and mine runs like a champ. I posted a range report on the other thread. I swapped them out before even shooting it with the factory parts and had no issues at all.

I do. I've used them for years on most the AR's I have had and all have been great. Never really liked the twang noise myself and the ability to tune the buffer with a simple spring change is nice.

Some good ideas. Been researching Stag 10 options before jumping in.

Where you guys purchasing there JP stuff?

Has anyone handled both the Raptor and the Geissele charging handles? Wondering about a first hand comparison between the two.

Its personal preference atthat point.

But the Raptor is better according to granddaddy of flannel Garand Thumb so thats all we need to now.

I guess that’s right, both would be a noticeable upgrade.

You lost me on the whole granddaddy of flannel Garand Thumb though...

Garand Thumb is a shooter on YouTube. Well respected Mil dude. He is known for wearing a flannel shirt.
I second the Raptor also. The only thing with extended CHs is if your bolt is held open, the charging handle can catch on gear if you sling your rifle and drop the bolt. If you or your buddies are not expecting it, the sound can be disconcerting!

I’m waiting for my stag 10 to arrive. I’m also changing the charging handle to the raptor one. Thinking the jp silent spring thingy is something I’ll wamt to do as well. Maybe a lantac bcg and sell of the stag one. If the barrel is very heavy I’ll prob want to change that out too

I've been running the JP SCSS for about 4 years in several rifles, both AR15's & AR10's. I like them a lot.

I have several Raptor charging handles, they are really good. I've handled the Geissele, but not had one in a rifle. They seem good, some guys really like them, I put them about equal to the Raptor's. If the Geissele had come out with their charging handle before the Raptor charging handle, I'm sure I'd probably be running a Geissele. Can't go wrong with either.

I think the best and first upgrade should be trigger.
I’ve owned two , one trigger wad so so, the other was way worst.

I guess if your just banging away and don’t mind a several stage trigger with a 15 lb pull, then it’s all good:)

I have a JP SCS in my Stag 10 and there was exactly zero difference in sound to me, 7.62 is goddamn loud and I would be surprised anyone can hear a "twang". Maybe in the US where you can run a suppressed AR15 but I wouldn't buy it for that purpose in an AR-10, personally.

The only reason I'm running it is because I'm tuning for a titanium BCG in conjunction with the adjustable GB, and Brownells had a wicked sale, otherwise I would go with a standard buffer and spring and save $100.
