Stag 10 vs BCL 102... the unspoken question

So you held one in your hand prior to purchase is what you are saying? Or did you purchase on assumptions, buddy? Assumptions derived from what? (No need to reply)

Are you unable to see the ejection port under the dust cover?

As I was looking into the product, I found this pic. I asked a question that went unanswered that was left unanswered. So I asked again.

No assumption, there is a gap. Clear as day. It is a Stag 10. This pic was posted as the product for sale.

As for your comment on smoking something, clearly you do not know me, buddy.

I dont know about you, but I dont care about a small gap, i just want one that works.

There were a few runs on the BCL 102 where it was too much of a gap and you could slide the cover forward which they said was a feature designed to allow you to open the dust cover quietly. A few of us let them know that on AR rifles the dust cover pops open automatically when fired or charged and that this "feature" wasn't needed. Anyways, the one I received along with a buddy's had a different dust cover which fit very well. I will see how it works out, but the BCL 102 I received which was about 2 months ago now looked to be very good. The BCG even had a firing pin retainer pin that wasn't the cotter pin. I gather the earlier ones had the cotter pin style which didn't fit well. I looked both of these over and they weren't bad at all. I did however wait and ordered only after the IOP was available and I was pretty sure most of the bugs were worked out. That being said I do have a Stag 10 upper/lower along with some other parts to build a complete rifle. Had the Stag10 been known, I would have skipped the BCL 102. But.. having the BCL 102 I won't be getting rid of it. It did exceed my fairly low expectations.

Mine as it is currently setup. I have a coyote brown B5 Sopmod on the way that will replace the black one. The black one will go on my Stag 10. I ordered FDE which wasn't even close to the BCL 102 FDE. The 102 is brown and not FDE. Hopefully Coyote brown will match decently.

I built one off a receiver set and the original one I bought only has the trigger guard, safety, mag release, buffer /tube /spring left as stock.

I'm really interested to see how the complete stag 10s perform

The below is from CeraKote's website: Impact, abrasion, scratch and gouging resistance testing per ASTM tests sure sounds like it hardens the surface to me.
It strikes me as odd that a company with an engineering and manufacturing background would produce, sell and warranty for life a rifle where they took a seemingly obvious short cut in the elimination of anodizing. It begs the question - is anodizing required, or is it a fading technology like chrome lining?

This was probably the only interesting post in this thread. "Direct and indirect impact resistance of 160 in-lbs." So I decided to look around and see what I could find for the energy of the recoil on .308 rifles and it ranges from 108 in-lbs to 216 in-lbs depending on the load you're shooting. This of course is only counting the ones that were tested but it does explain why some people have trouble with BCL guns and some people don't. I'm very interested to find the actual numbers that different anodizing treatments offer if anyone can offer those. This was quite the insight. 10 seconds or less on Google (on my phone) "stag 10 receiver", select images. Very first image (rdsc.ca) is a stag 10 set, and if you cannot see the radius of the ejection port at the front, behind the closed dust cover, you might be the one smoking something.

I'll try to bring the photo to this thread, when I am on a computer.

Because I do and I do not see any gap around my ejection port. The fitment and function of the Stag 10 factory installed parts are perfect and I'm staring right at them right now.
Nit picking a product by looking at pictures alone is kinda pointless. I have not found one single thing about my stag 10 receiver set that disappoints me .... zero. I also kinda like the factory trigger on mine but will see how it all feels when she is built.
Got some gen 3 LR/SR Pmags today from one of our dealers and can confirm nice solid lockup and drop free function. Followers engage the bolt stop as they should. I had one 5/10 mag stick a little bit and it didn't drop free but i just touched the front bearing tabs with a fine file for a couple gentle passes and now it drops free as well.

in my opinion, the perceived gap seen in the photographs is an optical illusion. The dust cover sits a bit recessed from the surface of the receiver and from a distance of a foot or so away, does look like a gap all the way around the dust cover..... but it is not.
