Stag 10 vs BCL 102... the unspoken question

dont even get me started on my bcl dust cover.
Lets just say that after 100 rounds I took a pair of plyers and I pulled it out and threw it in the garbage.

I know DILLI didn't care much for the trigger that came in his (probably because he has been spoiled by his Geisseles :p) but I gotta say the trigger that came in mine is nothing to spit at.
The trigger that my BCL came with had a long gritty pull, the Stag is just a clean break with a positive feeling audible reset.

If the trigger that comes in mine is like that, then I may end up leaving that in there. The trigger that came with my BCL was garbage. I've put some time in with the paracord trick so I can now use it. But I will have to treat it like a two stage with the initial grit stage, then slight smoothness and you hit the firm wall. From there it's a clean break. But this took a few hours with the paracord trick to even get so I would be able to use it. Previously it was grit all the way to the wall.

wait till your ambi bolt hold hold open breaks and your safety walks out.

I keep replacing the btoken parts, aside from the receivers I am down to only the bcg and barrel left. Those will be replaced soon as well.

Give it a rest. ...I've got 400 rounds through my 102 and no problems so far...the whiners get boring to listen too after a while. 😛

NEA BCL should up their warranty to fully transferable and drop the price a bit.

I don't own either, but in defense of NEA/BCL; they have incurred a lot of costs with R&D, Classification, tooling, tweaking that new tooling, and all of the issues associated with a new model launch. Stag was through all of that stuff in the past, and in looking at their market, have seen a return on investment a long time past. Their hard work was done and paid for before they even entered the Canadian market. Their market got bigger, and their guns are not likely to get better; BCL will be refining their product over the next few years to minimize warranty issues, and improve quality control and manufacturing efficiency. We all want the most for our money, and in this case, buying Canadian gives us a part in the whole process. I have neither, and see no need for one of these rifles; but I have bought BCL products in the past; and will continue to do so.

In other words, earlier buyers get to do the beta testing, so that the products can be improved for future customers.

No; I'm a Process Engineer in an auto parts plant. Beta testing is long over before anything hits the market regardless of the industry; Continuous improvement (Kaizen) is an on-going process, right up until the very last of the model goes out the door.

Quality improves, because the QA people learn what to look for. More quality issues are caught before being shipped to the customer; this reduces warranty costs and QA costs due to improved efficiency. Likewise, the result is these quality issues get fixed where they originate (manufacturing and design) not intercepted before leaving the plant; this equals less scrap, which equals improved deficiency and therefore less cost. Some of these savings get passed along to the customer; some are reinvested in the company for maintenance, improvements, and new product development.

When this does not happen we see issues that are often spoken of in threads on here; where people will buy a 20 year old used firearm because the company is coasting along making their old models without giving attention to continuous improvement; eventually they lose market share.

When a supplier to an auto manufacturer wins a contract to produce a particular part for a particular model for the life of that model, the contract usually has a clause that reduces the purchase price for that part by 5%/year over the life of that model; so not only do we plan for this, but we must increase our efficiency so we can afford to improve and reinvest in new models.

If we don't support companies that work hard to bring us new and innovative products locally, then we have nothing to complain about when we have no jobs and no Canadian products.

Truthfully, most people are consumers and don't care where they get something.

What surprises me about the issues with the 102 is that NEA was manufacturing and selling the NEA 25 overseas for quite some time before the BCL102 went to market in Kanada.

My understanding, which is perhaps flawed, was that the 25 and 102 were almost the same rifle, if not identical, and the reviews i saw from kiwis seemed very positive, which is why i jumped in and purchased one of the first gen 1 BCL 102’s.

I dont know what your smoking, this isn't a POS BCL part. it doesn't move forward and back when closed. The fact that BCL called the lack of QC a " Feature " is whats mind blowing. ! And furthermore on my Gen 1 BCL102 the dust cover was perfect. its only when those clown decided to screw up the BCL and make the Gen 2 that it all whent to CHIT. and as you can also see the Pic rail is properly deburred as well... lol...

10 seconds or less on Google (on my phone) "stag 10 receiver", select images. Very first image (rdsc.ca) is a stag 10 set, and if you cannot see the radius of the ejection port at the front, behind the closed dust cover, you might be the one smoking something.

I'll try to bring the photo to this thread, when I am on a computer.

This photo is the reason for my original question.

You are Right, Indeed it appears to have a GAP of about 0.05in according to my EYEBALL.

It also appears that it is SN000003 !!! A very early version! Could even say Prototype.

There is a big chance that STAG fixed the tolerance issue as pointed out by DILLIGAF's post, and new batches that are landing here have the correct tolerance for their Dust covers they are using. My SR25 has a different shape Dust cover FYI, I thought it would be the same. DPMS Pattern right?

emm are you serious?
problems with my bcl:
dust cover broken
failures to get into battery
stuck cases
broken bolt catch
ambi bolt release broken
worn gas rings
broken safety
broken original stock

I wont even mention finish and tooling marks cause i dont care about those.

so I dunno, is this whining or stating facts?

This is a thread about which one to buy, Im stating the numerous full retard problems with my bcl, you stated yours run perfect. We are both entitled to post here.

Yeah we heard it already ...sometimes I suspect it's more user error than manufacturing quality control.
Use to see it all the time ...Joe wrench would adjust his overhead valve train then be pissed when problems came up. If yours was such a POS and you were changing this and that, then why had mine which is untouched except for the trigger been so good.
Go figure!

whatever...
you guys do as you friggin wish, theres no point stating facts anymore you're just labelled a whiner.
Having so many things break down on my rifle makes it a statistical anomaly if BCL was the bees knees.
Next up you guys will be stating keltec makes great rifles.

This place has gone full retard for a bit now.

I dont base my assumptions looking at pictures buddy :bangHead: I owned both and the turd award goes to the 102.

I dont base my assumptions looking at pictures buddy :bangHead: .

So you held one in your hand prior to purchase is what you are saying? Or did you purchase on assumptions, buddy? Assumptions derived from what? (No need to reply)

Are you unable to see the ejection port under the dust cover?

As I was looking into the product, I found this pic. I asked a question that went unanswered that was left unanswered. So I asked again.

No assumption, there is a gap. Clear as day. It is a Stag 10. This pic was posted as the product for sale.

As for your comment on smoking something, clearly you do not know me, buddy.
