I'm new to ar style rifles and on my new never fired stag 10 when I push the rear take down pin out and try and pivot open the rear of bolt looks like it contacts buffer tube and wont pivot open..how can I fix this?

Postal code pictures there's a lot of knowledgeable folks on here I'm not very knowledgeable of the are platforms but I charge my way through the slot a lot I might even be able to give you some hints did you oil the pins lol

Sounds like the BCG is not fully forward if you can't close the upper/lower, and the bcg is touching the buffer as you try to put them together...

This is what's happening but don't know how to fix

Possible...

But, can I make a suggestion? If you are not familiar with the platform, stop. Have someone who knows it help.

The buffer tube is held in place by a lock nut on the back of the receiver. You need the proper wrench to loosen it, which then allows you to back out (unscrew) the buffer tube.

I tend to think something else is up, I doubt Stag let that rifle leave with the buffer tube screwed so far in it prevents the upper/lower from going together, it was together when you got it right?

Cheers
Jay

It will fit together fine when I set it together with both pins out but won't pivot open or closed. It's what you described where buffer tube is to far forward. I don't have the wrench to fix. I literally just picked up rifle today. It's my second.
