Hey gents,

Been considering picking up one of the new LEV2 stag 10s.

...would primarily be used for deer and moose, maybe bear. Currently I use my Ruger Scout and have had great success harvesting a moose and 3 deer in the last couple seasons. Is the Stag 10 worth the cost? Any real benefit over the boat gun? Differences between the new one and older gen rifles?

in semi auto rifles you pay for reliability and than accuracy. these have both... well worth the price! in terms of an AR10 over a bush bolt action in the $1000 range, you are getting reliably semi auto as the main feature. if you go with an AR!0 in the $1000 range you are losing accuracy and reliability over your bolt bush gun.

these are general terms, im sure someone will come say their $1000 AR10(102) is perfectly accurate and reliable.

If you want to shoot faster buy the stag, if you love the ar platform for adding stuff , giver. I bought one and thought it would replace most rifles in the safe. It had an 20” MRA barrel, gas system and bolt, It was accurate, ergonomic and a reasonable weight( 10lbs scoped and loaded ) and I still didn’t want it after shooting it a bit. One of my biggest complaints was that I don’t like the way it recoils. That’s not to say it was harsh by any stretch, it won’t leave a mark. I just found it odd. I also don’t want something that will at some point be finicky. I know ARs in general are not difficult, but they aren’t bolt action simple. I was considering either a Ruger scout, styer scout or my final choices and one I ended up with a SAKO black bear.
