Hi there,

I have the option of buying these two guys, and I am trying to decide which one to buy. The DPMS comes with Magpul MOE grip, foregrip and stock. The stag arms however has a vltor stock and some other goodies, plus sights and 3 LAR-15 mags. The stag is about 200 bucks more than the DPMS though.

which gun is better quality/better buy?

Thanks. Is there anything wrong with DPMS? I have heard good and bad things about them..

The Stag rifle is put together better and the components are generally better. On a side note the action on my Stag is smoother than my the ARmalite and LMT.

I don't own a DPMS AR15 and but I do have a LR-308. You have to look with DPMS to see what the specifications are for their products. Some are clearly consumer grade products. I love the LR308 as a target rifle but the upper/lower aren't up to the quality aluminum that my military grade AR10 rifles are. Even when installing a Magpul MIAD it was noticed that with the other rifles I had to use the Magpul screw but with the DPMS you need to use the screw that was already there. Small things like this. Overall my thoughts on DPMS are great value a decent product but definitely consumer grade products.

The Stag I would use if my life depended on it. I can't say the same about the DPMS.

I've got another one thrown into the mix...

A Sabre Defence AR-15 with some magpul stuff on it.. foregrip, quad rail and stock...

It is about 100 bucks cheaper than the stag and comes with 2 LAR-15 mags.. Does this seem like a good deal? I know I am really splitting hairs here, but if i can save 100 bucks and get a better or equal rifle to the stag i'd like to.

thanks.

Supposed to be a quality AR15 with "milspec" construction. I've only heard good things about them.

But.. the company went out of business. There was a scandal with parts being illegally sent from the US to Europe. The company folded.

As much as I would like to NOT support a company conducting illegal activity, if they make a good product, thats all that really matters.. :)

Thanks.

The company is gone now. So you won't be supporting them.

One thing to consider if the Stag you're looking at is from Arms East then it will be done right. There will likely be extras such as H buffer, correct F front sight along with all the correct staking. Mine was done properly. It has a number of the so called features from the famous "list" that is reported as missing from the Stag. Our Canadian imported ones have those features.

On a side note Abbotsford Police use AR carbines in their patrol cars. It's been confirmed that they use Colt and Stag rifles. I believe Arms East supplied the rifles (both Colt and Stag).

Thanks for the info, very helpful.

I was gonna go with stag, but i have accepted the deal for the sabre defence. Reason being is i've read some good stuff on the net after researching them, and it has a quad rail + some other goodies. (plus its cheaper!)

I don't think you'll be disappointed. Everything I've read has been good as well on the Sabre. Also Wolverine was selling them. They are an excellent company.
