Just got the 14.5 DPMS upper from a gunnut. everything seemed to fit nicely, the bolt, the flash hider, the charging handle.
When assembling to the stag lower, the pivot pin goes in fine, however, the rear pin takes a dowel and a hammer to get in/out.
i've tried lubing with clp, and polishing the area with a dremel, but it still takes a dowel and hammer. I'm assuming that thru wear and tear it'll become easier?

I've got to wait till May before taking it to the range, so for now, I'll just let the whole thing soak in clp.

is the bolt carrier suppose to grind against the buffer when I pivot the assemblies?

on my dpms upper if i #### the hammer first (pull charging handle) and then apply the safety, the rear pin is easier to come out

There are always tolerances built into mass produced items. Sometimes they all stack the same way. If you don't like the tight fit, you can take a round file and open up the rear pin hole in the upper reeiver. You don't need to take off much metal. You don't want to end up with a sloppy fitting upper.

just shoot 2 or 3k before doing anything else and for god sake PUT DOWN THE DREMEL

+1 man, why does everyone need to run to a dremel?
Just use a nice round file and you can feel what you are doing.
Unlike a bouncing dremel.

its FUBAR send it to me postage paid and ill deal with it........

My olympic arms lower is so tight i use a punch and have to tap the pin out been like that for 6 months 2000rnds

My Stag lower is really tight on the takedown pin, opening or closing, with either my Armalite or LMT uppers. my DPMS lower on the other hand is easy to push the takedown pin through.
Just take the time required to do the job right!

Roger doger folks. just got a message from the gunnut who sold me the upper. confirmed, that I should #### it first before trying to take it out, and also to #### back the hammer before reassembly.

Sounds like a good idea to me.
Thanks for the advice. gotta love cgn.
