So I have been looking at/reading about the stags and I either have to decide between

Model 1R (16" barrel) or the Model 4R (20" barrel)....any pros and cons you know about either one?

Will be reading much more about bushmasters next:p

Trying not to steal the OP's thread but..
For some weird reason I'm right handed, but left eye dominant, so all my life I've been shooting rifles left handed. I'm currently looking into Stag's left hand AR's as I can imagine them being easier to deal with than the typical right hand rifle. It might sound like a dumb question, but how annoying is it for a leftie to shoot the right hand AR? Do you have to put up with casings hitting your face, gasses/smoke in your eye, etc? Will a leftie rifle really be worth buying or would I be better off with a right hand rifle, which might have a higher resale value?

I'd go with Stag because ArmsEast is both aware of what works and what doesn't and makes sure that any deficiencies are dealt with before you get the rifle (little things like re-staking the carrier key with a MOACKS tool). Also they can 'normalize' your AR by removing the "muzzle break" and threading for a normal FH. I don't mean to imply that other importers/dealers don't, the good ones will, but with Bushmaster/Remington knowing who imported it may be less clear.

You should not have any problem with left handed use of a right handed rifle as long as you get one with a case deflector. The only mod I would recommend for a lefty is an ambi selector lever like http:// dynamicarmament .com/items/ar-15-mil-spec-parts/ambi-selector-anbiselector-detail.htm .

Bushmaster is the #1 distributed AR-15 in the USA. I've owned a Bushmaster AR-15A3 16" HBAR ("M4") for 5 years with UNMATCHED performance, fit and finish are top-of-the-line. Also, just purchased a 2008 Bushmaster AR-15A3 20" HBAR Target and is ruthless at 200 yards using iron sights.

I hear alot of people smashing Bushmaster, and I dont see why. Colt and Bushmaster are the king AR's. Sure they're lots of other great AR's, I'm sure STAG, etc are fine. That should tell you something that in the US, the number 1 AR-15 is the Bushmaster, second to Colt. Fit and Finsh, craftsmanship, accuracy, etc are unmatched.

In Canada yes...but Canadian prices are determined largely by the American market. As prices crash down there, our importers pay less as well.

At any rate prices "skyrocketing" is not happening!
The American market price doesn't determine the Canadian price, it's the American dealer price that determines our price. That is, something may be cheap on GB, but if it's not actually available from the manufacturer (e.g. Colt ARs) it will still be unobtainium up here.

If it is for recreational use then get whatever is available...I had over 20Krounds through a Bushmaster M4 without a problem. Their lowers are super nice too. If you are using it for professional use then buy the Stag, they have very good QC and their checking protocols are a bit better. This mainly refers to the upper receiver group. I have yet to have a really poor lower besides the early Dlask.

That is of course true, however, when the market price in the US is extremely high, there will always be manufacturer backlogs = even unobtaniumer in Canada = higher prices due to increased scarcity.

But the panic has been over for a while and backlogs are shrinking. This will not directly affect pricing here, but it does help to explain why prices are not skyrocketing at this time (not that I have seen anyone in the know claiming that they are).
