I plan to get a stripped lower ASAP, and noticed that there is more than $100 difference in the stripped lowers between the Stag and Bushmaster.

Is the Bushmaster that much better, or am I just paying for the name? That difference almost pays for the parts kit.....

From what I can tell from reviews, both are rated quite highly.

Regards, Brent

I would consider the Stag. Made by CMT if I am not mistaken. They are sub-contractors for some of the bigger makers.

Get the stag because its cheaper. Both lowers are great quality wise; will not go wrong with either one ! Also, stags are still incoming dont think the shipments have arrived yet...

Stag Arms lowers are of manufactured with specs that give nothing up to other brands other than, brand. They are constructed from Forged 7075 T6 Aluminum, with the latest Mil-Spec finish, and are beautifully machined.

Stag Arms products are cheaper in price than other brands because Stag Arms is their own 'in house' manufacturer. As a brand they are less known than others as they are still quite new, only existing as "Stag Arms" and selling AR15 rifles to civilians for the past 2-3 years. However, the company has been building AR-15 type rifles, parts and assemblies for other brand names (including the biggies) for 32+ years and are of course a US Dept of Defence approved M16/M4 overhaul and upgrade facility, so they are well up on the 'latest' specs and developments.

I am not claiming that Stag Arms lowers are 'better' than Bushmaster, but they are not worse, and the price difference is not due to cheaper materials being used or lower manufacturing quality.

Either will work fine for you.

We represent Stag Arms in Canada. Dealers should have stripped lowers in-stock in mid-January. There should be enough in country to meet demand soon.

More details will be up at www.armseast.com, including dealer links, over the next few days (we're all eating Turkey today).

Merry Christmas,

DT

Internally there is no difference, however from detailed pics and an inspection of Jimy's lower a few months back when he got it the Stag Arms lowers exhibit a finish on par with Colt's, there are no plate lines in front of the magwell and where the web of the hand goes, also the area inside the trigger guard is finished better than the Bushy (keep in mind I am a diehard Colt/Bushy guy). And ofcourse IBS.

I think that the major determining factor would be asthetics.

If it was my rifle that I was building, I would be contacting Ryan over at Wolverinesupplies.com about an Eagle stripped lower reciever, which I believe runs for $238.

Bushmaster's snake is ugly. Stag's deer is even uglier.

Eagle uses a nice, subdued eagle with EAGLE ARMS written beside it. So nice.

Ahhhh....

I would figure that reliability would be number 1 :D

6 of one half dozen of the other -- I like the Stag Head and Snake a lot better than the rather bland Eagle Arms type face.

I have two stag lowers and one eagle arms lower that I put RRA lower parts kits into. Both types accepted the parts without a hitch. Save your money and buy the Stag, or better yet, use the money you saved to update to a decent (match) trigger group.

You got it Boltgun, I started painting my gear by blending in two different colours and repeating when it was still wet, they came out real nice and have been slowly catchin on here, the guys started calling it Kum-Pat.It is a mix of Dark Earth and OD. Very oldschool and non mil.

One of mine is a Stag, (built it up already, works great. easy to assemble, except for the newbie first build fumbling. My other lower is a DPMS, still waiting to build that one, the thing is utterly identical to the Stag, except for the engraving on the side.

And since reliability is the same among the Eagle Arms (I run Armalite), Bushmaster, and Stag, all that's left is asthetics.

A good boob job is about asthetics, AR receivers are chunks of aluminum.
ie. save your money.

I had the opportunity to shoot the Stag Arms model 1R the other day and I found it to a nice tight weapon, similar to the C8 carbine. I'm in the market for a M4 type weapon and I think I might go the Stag Arms way.
