Hi all,

I have some great news!!

Larry of Creative Products LLC has been listening to us Canadians and has SERIOUSLY STEPPED UP to the plate.

After a long time of trying to find a well made magazine at a REASONABLE price it looks like it has been done.

If you are not aware of this, Creative Products recently created a stainless AR magazine that uses the Magpul antitilt follower and chrome silicone spring and then finishes the mags in black mar-lube finish.

The mags are quickly taking a significant US market share due to the strength (hardened to 38 rockwell hardness) and corrosion resistance and most of all the PRICE!!!!!!!!!

They have taken that 30 rd mag and put their creative brains to work and have now created a 30/5 magazine for OUR MARKET!!!!!

Now the best part...they are only $21.99 USD/MAP. Dealer pricing will be available and volume discount will likely be also available. The magazines will be hitting the production line next week!

I would hope that the mags will be available up here in the next month or 2.

Keep an eye out for this folks. This is a very reasonable deal. No more rivets or 50-80.00 (hopefully) magazines and made out of stainless to boot!.

I heard they're gonna run $30, those appear to be the prices of their non converted mags. The only problem is...

11. Magazines for military-type firearms that have been properly converted to accommodate the appropriate number of rounds require an import permit under the provisions of the Export and Import Permits Act, except for a magazine altered to zero capacity. These permits are issued by DFAIT. More information is available by contacting DFAIT at (613) 996-2387.

Then you also require an export permit from the USA.

I know you can get around this, but should you...? I have friends who supply me with lots of mags but they sure do risk a lot.

very familiar with the import/export rules. This is not an issue at this time. The mags are not pinned with rods. They are going to lanced to prevent the follower from allowing more than 5 rds from fitting. They should also allow disassembly for cleaning to a certain degree. that info is still being worked out. In order to convert these to 30 rds you will need to have a machine shop and the knowledge on how to do the conversion. This is likely harder to do than some of the other conversion out there.

No I am not....since they are not even produced yet. At this stage in the game the permits are a bridge yet to be crossed...and it will be crossed. What the link is saying is that they are "Canadian Legal" meaning 5 rds.

I will be getting more information in the next day or 2 and will update this thread as I do. The goal here is TO GET VERY GOOD QUALITY MAGS AT A REASONABLE PRICE! Something the Canadian AR shooter is not usually used too. When you compared what our neighbors to the south are paying for their mags, it is about time we start getting some kind of deal.

I've ordered many magazines from the US... as long as they are legal here (5rnds / 10rnds) there has never been a problem; unless the US laws have changed in the last month.
 
It sounds good. But personally, I would pass because I like having the option of unpinning them should the mag limit ever be removed. Thats just me though, maybe that isn't important to a lot of folks..

Heck, if they got rid of magazine capacity limits, I'd smash my 5-rounders with a sledge hammer in celebration then go out and buy new ones.

They are stronger - steel vs aluminum. slightly heavier - 1.4 oz more than aluminum. less chance for breakage.
