stainless laminate Tikkas?

I know you like Rugers, but are they really comparable?

not at all. the Ruger is a superior gun.

You have to load and unload a hinged floorplate everytime. Magazines you remove with a simple click and you only load once and do not need to unload the magazine. If you want to call that a downgrade.....

a hinged floorplate opens with the same simple click, and loads just as fast as a magazine - faster if you consider that you have already pre-loaded the magazine in a much slower fashion than you can load the floorplate.

i have both. i used to much prefer the DM and go out of my way to buy guns that have them, but lately i actually prefer the rock solid reliability of a floorplate. the big turning point for me was when i discovered how incredibly fast you can load a hinged floorplate gun from the bottom (learned that from someone here in this forum in a mag vs floorplate thread).

I've got two Tikka's and wouldn't change for anything in the world. Both super accurate to less than .5 MOA

My M658 in 30-06, glass bedded and pillared with 3 lb trigger.

And T3 in .223, Stock filled with foam and pillared with 3 lb trigger.

I have a few Tikkas and I doubt Ruger's ever made a standard run repeater that can compare to my M658 Premier - different than your 06, Eskimo, stock's fancier with forend and pistol grip caps. Just won't be outshot by pretty well any standard mass produced sporter out there. It's a 7mm Rem Mag, and capable of more than the tiny groups I can shoot with it - a better shooter with more scope would be scaring the bench rest bunch.

Pics of T3 laminates

Here are a few pics of my Tikka T3 laminates-both 270WSM. My wife (then fiance) took over the first one (silver Leupold VX3 3.5-10x40 BC reticle) in the fall of 2004 so I picked up another for me (matte Leupold VX3 4.5-14x40 BC reticle). These Tikka's are shooters as I get 0.217" groupings (centre-centre) with 140gr Accubonds and Retumbo with my rifle. I personally prefer the LS models over the lite or SS in the Tikka as I dont care for there synthetic stock compared to my Sako m75ss rifles.

Last pic is of a mint Sako m75 Greywolf 300WSM with Leupold gunmetal grey scope I picked up in May this year.

And if you look in the Hunting & Sporting Arms section, you will see pics of my Sako m75 Greywolf 338-06AI:D:sniper: I had built and just picked up.

As you may have noticed my M658 is with a new heavier barrel and weighs in at 15 lbs as is in the picture with everything on it. Not like when I bought it new in 91

I did notice - must be a treat to shoot. Don't think I've ever had a rifle with such a slick smooth action. Don't ever lose your clip! They're what, around half the price of a Shilen barrel?

I love the looks of all three of your guns. Very nice.

^^ Yeah that Sako Greywolf is quite nice. I didn't think they were that much ligther in colour than the Tikka. Not like thats a bad thing though, i'm quite fond of the grey laminate stocks in any shade...

deadhead & Gylar, then you must see the pics of my custom Sako m75 Greywolf I picked up this week that I posted in the Hunting Sporting Arms.

I think the grey laminate depends on production run at the time cut...I Ihave seen some darker Sako Greywolfs and T3 LS model stocks and lighter ones too.

Mighty Peace, i just checked out your custom Saka in the Hunting Sporting Arms section. I tip my hat to you, what a beautiful rifle you got there! I'll have to take a couple pics of my Tikka LS to compare. As it stands though, if i would have had the extra couple of bucks i definitely would have sprung for the Sako. Oh well, perhaps my next rifle.......:D

I've never had to explore the speed of reloading of my kids Tikka T3 SS/L anything we shot at is dead long before the clip is empty. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat-I've watched too many guys fumble and curse with hinged floorplates in the cold to ever own a rifle with anytthing but a detachable magazine.
