Stainless Steel media affecting neck tension

Rcbs case lube is easily removed with a rag or towel. I use a lee universal decapper and decap before tumbling. Size, trim etc.

Valeksky,

Looking at this, if you chamfer and debur (thereby reducing the thickness of the necks to a point) and then SS tumbling, it would probably be possible to roll over that knife edge.

The only functions that should be performed before SS tumbling is a deprime or deprime and size. Chamfering and deburing should be left until after.

The only reason I size and deprime before cleaning is to get the case lube off, if you're cleaning before sizing how do you deal with the case lube?

I use Birchwood Casey case sleaner. Soak for a couple of hours and dry in the oven @175F for 25 minutes. Then into the tumbler.Any heavy duty degreaser for pressure washers works good as well.

Oh I totally agree with you on that, Shooter. Definitely the right way to tumble in my opinion as well. It's not clear if the OP (unless I missed it) just sized or also trimmed and chamfered, thus resulting in his original post's issue.

Having said that, with no chamfer, the case mouth will still get banged up enough to be considered "peening" when run with too much brass or run too long. I've measured just to confirm what I can see. Granted, it's not something crazy, but it seems to be enough to increase the resistance felt by bullet seating. Just my observations. Oh well. I've really got nothing more to add to this thread so I will leave it there.

Good shooting, sir.
