Stainless Steel Media for 22lR

I am wondering if anyone has used stainless steel or ceramic media in a rotary tumbler to clean the inside of 22lr brass. I want them good and clean for swaging. I have an ultrasonic but can't stand it.
 
Might be easier to rig up some sort of drill mounted brass brush and then scrub the cases out holding them with pliers?

Umm, you use the empty rimfire cases to make jacketed bullets for .22 centerfire?
If I've got that right wow, pretty cool.
I've been saving my spent rf cases, don't like to leave a mess where I shoot.
Now I'm glad I kept them, I really would like to get into a .223.
 
This is pretty nifty. With far more time on my hands and a far larger shop, I think it'd be pretty neat to make your own 224 cal bullets out of spent 22LR. That and the steel soviet bloc surplus ammo are about the only casings left on the ground at my range, everything else gets scooped up and taken home.

Thanks for the offer zuke but I just bought my own and it is on the way. Anyway here is a picture of what I have done so far.

From left to right. 3-35gr, 1-50gr, 1-60gr and a few that were all polished up.

I tested some out yesterday and it looks promising. I think close to 1 moa is a achievable.

Yeah they do need to be refined imo , I read alot of the threads and posts there and to be honest I wish you the best of luck getting any accuracy out of these things.

That sizing die he sent you could be modified to improve the concentricity of the bullets though.

I swage but all my dies I made myself ,when the bullets come out of my point forming die they are the correct size.

If you need some modifications done PM me I should be able to help.

I might do that. I am not a big fan of sizing down when i swage. Seating the cores brings the diameter to .228. And then they are sized down.

Also the sizing die comes out at .223 not .224. The punch for core swaging is too small as some of the lead sqeezes by the punch. Same for core seating.

I acquired a bunch of .224 bullets years ago that were made by using spent 22 casings for jackets. [IIRC, they were 55 grains]
I found them to be quite good if I separated them according to the casing headstamp.
I guess that some 22's, like centerfires, have slightly heavier cases than others.
Hope you get it to work for you. It is an interesting concept, and recycles one other item.

if you don't anneal the brass cases after you swage the rim off your going to have issues as well. gotta ask why you don't like the ultrasonic cleaner?? I use it to degrease my cores before seating them as I am using a water soluable swaging lube just for the lead cores and lanolin/secret weapon for the jacket jube when core seating and pointing.
At the end of the day however the price for made jackets far exceeds the expense of making them yourself, but being able to for when shortages appear is kinda priceless.
 
I have the same dies. I've loaded about 1500 sofar with great results. .5 moa out of a rem 700 22-250. 55gr on top of 37 gr of H414. Does about 3300 fps. It looks like you could run your bullets up your point swage a bit more. I go until it just starts to force the jacket into the ejector opening. I also found that if the lead starts flowing past your core seat punch, you are using too much force. You need to just seat it. The point form will do the rest. I also use stainless to clean. A bit of TSP with a dash of lemonclean and they come out too pretty to shoot!
