Hey guys,
forgive me for the somewhat ignorant post, but i am a noob. I am looking to purchase a Savage 93R17.
I really like the BV, I thought i wanted to go with Stainless Steel, but once you go to the BVSS the stock changes, and I don't like the grey laminate.

What are the significant differences/advantages/disadvantages between stainless and blued?

thanks for any help!

This is what I did: Googled "stainless vs. blued", read for an hour & saw nothing very convincing to go either way so bought what was most pleasing to my eye. In my case, I like stainless, I like wood & I like thumbhole so I went with the BTVS. It's handsome, a good price & it's a shooter.
Good luck.

Thanks gryner,
See I also like Stainless and Wood, Just not 100% sold on the thumbhole. I held it in the store and it felt good enough (different, but not necessarily bad different). Maybe it would just take some getting used to. Any other BTV owners out there (or anyone for that matter) have any comments positive or negative about the thumbhole? or about the stainless vs blued discussion?

Satin fancy walnut and stainless is nice in a classic design. Some folks , I are one, that like chrome-moly barrels, and deep blue high polish finish . And others that like a gun to stand up to days afield in less than ideal conditions, the hunter, with his/her stainless / (lamo rifle ( it is the most stable):D.
