stainless vs polymer LAR-15 magazines

I'm going to buy a boatload of mags. Don't have built guns to test them in so relying on the internet.

Given the choice of higher capacity mags, I'd go with PMAGs, but since we live in a country with stupid laws, I'm stuck on the Lar-15 pistol mags. It seems there are two options available. There are the CPD Stainless steel mags, and there are polymer mags made by MFT.

Does anyone have both and/or can anyone comment on any issues with the polymer? Do they both drop free? The polymer would be my preference. I'm going to stick extensions on them for faster/easier loading.

Metal feed lips are key in my opinion, I have only had one brand of polymer mags that didnt have metal feed lips and they sucked after using them more then once. The polymer flexs and allows double feeds to happen

So I would only buy polymer mags again if they had metal feed lips
 
like with any mags, you bend or crack the feed lips, they are toast.

As long as you keep MFTs unloaded in storage and don't drop them loaded on concrete they are fine.

P.S. I like Lancers 20s the most, but they are pinned. Le sigh.
 
I run MFTs with couplers from GS Designs (makes it roughly the same size as a full size mag with 20 round total capacity) and would recommend them

Use them for 3 gun and they`re great
 
I own both. The MFT seem great to me and I have no issues. The cost is like half so that’s a major plus. If you’re just plinking I see no reason not to use MFT. Getting stranded behind enemy lines I’d go with the SS ones :)
 
I have recently fired 2000 factory rounds between 5 MFT mags with no problems in any of them. I store them unloaded.

How many is a boatload, and what type of shooting are you planning?

Personally I have 8 MFT with GS design extensions which are only for matches, and 7 ASC LAR mags for sub zero matches. Other wise I use Pmags for all my practice and plinking. IMO 10 rounds mags offer no advantage in training or practice, as Pmags are cheaper, more durable, easier to replace, and force more mags changes (which is good for practice).

Also 5/30s are nice to have for the what ifs and such. Maybe Canada prohibits sales of them one day, Maybe Canada removes stupid mag capacity laws and we can un-pin them. Maybe, maybe, maybe, but better to have, than want.

Admittedly I am a mag junkie, and realize not everyone will have 50 mags on hand. Each does offer an advantage though, and if a boatload is your goal I recommend a few varieties.

Yes. Good advice. Going to buy some pmags too on second thought!
 
I read and read again the law on Mag and i can’t figure out if it legal to own and use the ar15 10 round pistol mag in a SLR or any other non restricted rifle. I get caught couple year ago about prohibited items and I WILL NEVER BE IN THAT KIND OF SITUATION AGAIN. If i can get an answer from RCMP about this i will buy an SLR and a Stag10 right after. But the law is never clear and i’m alway confuse.

Your help is appreciate
 
You can buy them from IRG thou if they are still importing (seem to read somewhere they stopped importing AR-related parts, but don't quote me on this). If you get them from the US thou it would end up costing more since you essentially pay double the shipping.

Part 4 is what your looking for. The magazine determines what its maximum capacity is, so magazines stamped/marked as pistol magazines are permitted to have a capacity of 10 rounds regardless of what firearm they’re used in. That’s how all the pistol caliber carbines can use pistol mags.
