Stainless Zastava .375?

Angus,

self guided forest elephant in Cameroon (one of the last country in Africa where you can do that on your own well with trackers but no PH lol) .... wow Sir.

I never liked forest in CAR (even if the hunting is great) and I wont imagine a different one in Cameroon.

before saying no on the stainless you should ask the Canadian importer and even the factory. pretty sure they can do it for you.

the caliber will be a 458 win mag for that specific task.

all the best.

Phil

I don't mind spending on guns, and the Montana's well priced, but figure $600 in mind for this gun, as good chance it won't make it home.

Will certainly be an adventure Phil if I can get it hammered out, I have to do some work for them and negotiations are close, he's pencilled me into his area early in the new year and set aside an elephant allocation. Only ammunition available is .375 H&H, it's served me well and I'll be sticking to it, I like the .458 and have used it briefly in the Limpopo, but if my ammo doesn't show I don't feel like trying to find some in Cameroon. He described the situation as, to paraphrase, "If it doesn't come with you, it won't be available. That includes food. I do have some .375 ammo at camp."

Ardent....be happy to lend you my 700 stainless that has already been rain forest proven..........and if it don't come back, well...it's only a 700 Rem, right.

Ya, ya I know push feed and all that crap..........but she has been 100% reliable so far.........killed lions and leopards and hippos and crocs.........

Douglas that's incredibly kind and I'll keep it in mind. I do believe I'd rather lose $600 on a CRF than borrow a free and proven Rem 700, pride's expensive! I'm going to keep looking at options for a cheap .375 with iron sights, the only way I hunt.

Got a contract by email today, the deal is good. Now the biggest sell; telling the wife I plan to work for two weeks, then hunt Ele in Cameroon for three weeks alone. Time is the hardest thing to come by, once upon a time I had tons of it, and no money. Combining the two, available time and available money, is still eluding me. Douglas tell me your secrets... You need to write a manual.

Still have sights for the 700, just took the back one off to clear the Zeiss.............if it's sights you want, then sights you shall have. Angus it is an age thing, when you get to be my age you'll hopefully have both or at least a little more of both...........:)

Clearly, you need a stainless NEW KING!! You can take 50 rounds of ammo with you, which should be sufficient. I'll see if I can find a source for ammo in Camaroon for you, too. :)

I wish you luck. :) The area I'm in is solid green on maps, and I'm not passing through centers I feel like exploring to find ammo if things do sideways. If you can find some in country, my absolute hat off to you, as I suspect it hasn't even been heard of there. It would be a great little gun and perfect for this job, the Alaskan, if made for the H&H. And if I'm carrying a bolt action for Elephant, I'd appreciate 4-5 rounds in the magazine.

And hey, what took you so long! ;)
