Personally 6i love stalking. I don't have the patience to sit in a stand all day cause I pretty much sit at work for 12 -14 hours. It feels good to move around and enjoy scenery. I got my first deer this year by stalking a shore line around a beaver pond.

Which do you prefer and what have you had most luck with?

If you mean walking stalking, then I'm in. But does anyone hunt where they are more than a stones throw away from a motorized vehicle, anymore?

All of them?

Should be an option... Since different game and different enviroments require different strategies.

Tree stand all the way for my current location. Being able to see across a field and over cedars is such a good advantage. Not to mention better scent control being higher up.

Panoramic of what i see from my stand:

Whatever the weather and terrain dictate. Mostly a mix of sitting against a tree, and still hunting if there is enough breeze and wet ground. Have used a treestand in recent years but haven't had luck from it yet. It probably hasn't been set up at the right spots. It's a learning curve.

All of the above, plus calling/rattling set-ups, occasional pushes and drives... etc... etc... whatever the situation calls for.

While waiting in ambush can be productive, it just isn't nearly as much pure fun as trying to sneak up on bedded animals. I read about guys reading, texting, listening to podcasts, sleeping, posting on forums with their phones, and freezing while waiting for hours in their various stands. Just don't enjoy any of that as much as sneaking around in the bush looking for whatever I'm after, or calling with various techniques.

I like, use all of them depending on the game and conditions..... I do a lot of still hunting, just don't like sitting for long periods of time, one of the reasons I like coyote hunting so much....20-30 minute sits and I move along...

I am still really new to hunting, but I prefer stalking as it has a bit more stimulus than just sitting and waiting. However, in the property i went, the trees and bushes were just too dense and dry. To get by the branches without snapping them, I would have to be doing crazy acrobatics like:

Right? How is that fun?

So far ive snuck up on 7 deer this year. I rub white pine sap and balsalm fir juice all over my skin before I go out. Take 30 steps stop listen for a few minutes. I play the wind as well. I think thats the biggest factor.

With the warm weather here in Ontario ive been closer to the low lying areas where its cool.

Is it your property? You could always cut your self some walking trails and trim the branches so they dont touch your shoulders. Im learning too but I must be doing something right.

I stalk from 6 - 9 then my friends and I do chases during the day then I stalk again from 3 - 6

no its not mine. A friend got permission for us to hunt on it

but that may be a good idea, Ill try clearing a lane at noon hours next time im out there

Perfect day would be a few chases in the morning and then sit the afternoon away in a stand. I love to walk the bush but it is nice to sit and watch the sun go down and the game that comes out just before it does.
