Stamped Chi-com sks value

What is stamped on an SKS?!?

Personally, I'm not an uber-expert on SKS's, but $200 seems high for a Chinese unit. Not that there's anything wrong with them, they just generally aren't as pretty or have the history of the Russian ones. Just to give an idea, 5 years ago my buddy bought a near-mint Chinese SKS from an aquaintance, and it cost him only $100. It's possible prices have gone up or down. I think Marstar was selling them as a combo deal where the Chi SKS only cost $75...so maybe $200 seems a wee bit high.

I think its a fair price, the chicom stamped, its a chineese stamped receiver instead of mill, and they are rare, for a collector it have value.

The rifles with the pressed receivers are very uncommon. To a collector, it should be worth a premium. I recall seeing only one specimen; went through my shop back in the 80s.

Anyone have pictures of these mysterious "stamped" SKS's? I've never seen such a thing, my buddy's Chicom SKS has a machined receiver.

Pictures of a chinese stamped receiver sks are in the Chinese SKS sticky. It isn't the first one in Canada.

For anyone who says the Chinese SKS lacks history, you need to research the combat history of the lineage. Korea, Vietnam, the first Sino-Viet War, the Vietnamese contract guns, the egyptian contract guns and the various other variants.

Most people can't get past the differences between commercial vs military let alone military design and production variances.

While it might not be as popular or common knowledge as the Russian history is on their SKS, the Chinese SKS has more variety. There is run of the mill stuff, and then there is the unique variants.

Well said. The Chinese ones interest me more than the Russian ones.

Not the best pic, but on my file. Hammer and trigger guard are stampings as well.

Not the first one, but not exactly common - maybe I just don't have a ton of experience (I've owned 6 or 7 at various times, all Chinese military - no interest in the commercial ones), but I have handled both Sino-Soviet AND an Albanian and I haven't seen a stamped Chinese. At one point I had a '67 Factory 26 and a 1965 Chinese Mil Tokarev - I called them my "VC starter kit"

Oh I agree, not common at all on the continent, let alone Canada.

Hard to find the "Security Force" stamped one here too.

I find the Chinese versions as interesting as the Russian versions. Still hunting for a Albanian and Romanian.

We have a benchmark value folks! $230 shipped. Another example of rare does not mean valuable. On side note, I saw a Colombian madsen sell for $450 at a gun show. Hell of a deal that was.
