Stanley Park coyotes cull

Now there is a petition to stop the cull

Watching the news they think there could be 30-40 coyotes in the park

Stanley Park is just over 4 km2

think about that

10 coyotes per 1 km2
or 1 coyote per 100 meters2

On top of that People are feeding them,
No wonder they are getting aggressive and trying to eat People

Not Stanley Park.....but years ago I took someone to ubc hospital to see a specialist. Downtown ubc....because there are probably only 100 cities larger in kanada, no parking, parked blocks away...walking right by McDonald's......Coyote walked right down the sidewalk past us. Fifteen years ago, across from Canadian tire, right by the credit union, Powell River, 3pm on a school day...500 lb Black bear waddling down the concrete sidewalk.

An actual uncontrolled pandemic would see most cities dissolved into habitat in three generations. A blink in geological terms.

There are more yotes than they know of in Vancouver.
From the UBC Endowment Lands to QE Park ...any large city park for that matter.
Yes the idiots feeding them cause they look hungry.
A couple recently have been ticketed and their vehicle has been seized/towed .
No idea why the Provincial C/O's are involved instead of the Federal C/O's after all Stanley Park is unceded land of the Squamish Nation.

Per 100,000 square meters. Not 100. There’s a million square meters in a square km.

In my unpopular opinion they should just let the animals be and if someone gets attacked too bad. Learning the easy way isn't working, so maybe learning the hard way will.

Trouble is that someone else pays the price for stupid people - we see it here - weekend camper types think is "cute" or whatever to feed black bears - the camper people leave - bears have learned people = food - from handouts or from their garbage - DNR traps and hauls away the bears. Should be hauling away the bozo's who caused the issue - not the bears. But only one old guy's opinion...

You can't fix stupid. Remember that poor girl Taylor Mitchell in Cape Breton? After she passed her freaking weird mother begged the world in front of cameras for no-one to cull the critters.
Now she's a celebrity for the left, yet childless.
You can't make up this s###!!!

I've long predicted that Canada is crusin' for a bruisin' as far as the increasingly "tame" (ie, bold) 'yotes are concerned but of course some of the bleeding heart population is determined that the process continue.

As I see it, the major issue, is that the powers that be, saw fit to announce to all and sundry, what they were planning.

What they needed to do was hire a couple folks, send them wandering the roads of the park in a mini-van in the night, to quietly get the issue dealt with.

The worst that could happen is they’d have to ask for forgiveness. But at least the coyotes would be dead.

More coyotes than people think ... they’re all over the lower mainland and sometimes take pets for food. They survive very well in urban areas connected by green spaces and wooded areas. So many raccoons too! Plenty of natural food plus garbage and pets. People feed the raccoons pet food off their balconies .... and apparently feed coyotes in Stanley Park. All those garbage eating rats and mice too to feed the yotes. I’d expect more coyotes in Stanley Park than any remote area and it would be fine too, if people kept their distance and took better care of their garbage.

No problem with a coyote cull ... there’s plenty more to replace them.

unfortunatley , You guys in Canada will see, that this is not how they Roll...
i agree with what ya say to a degree......... but only takes one Politically Correct CkSkr to feed get bit n sue for quite alot of money, more than it would cost the govt to pay 4 blokes to cull them, house them, feed the shooters, pay their fuel, pay their expensivest ammo an perfect suited rifles blabla bla.

If humans co-exist with coyotes do not expect that they will change. Coyotes hunt, they don't think like people, they hunt for food, if that's your cat, your dog, or your kid, it's all the same to them, it's what they do.
