Star model b refinishing

So I bought a Star model B a while ago and quite liked it. Did not enjoy the plum coloured finish and the occasional hammer bite I got, so I decided to go over it a bit. Did a complete strip of it, sandblasted it, bobbed the hammer slightly, parkerizing it and sourced some grips (which I still had to mod a little). I think it turned out all right for a guy with no skills...
For ~$300, I think these are great little guns.

One of the ones i got was as new, never issued, I have had some that are refinished, but never seen plum color.
These are great guns, for the money, 1911/ browning hi power type.
One i sold would shoot better group than my hk p7
what did you have to do to the grips, have never checked that?
