I bought 2 Star Model B Super pistols from frontier fire arms a month ago. I was not really impressed with the norinco NP29, so I was looking for something "different". They showed me the star and I was impressed with the over all fit and finish. Nice trigger, smooth slide ECT. I had them at the range today. Both shot the same. No difference. Point of aim was right on. That's good. I set my steel targets up at 25 yards "8x8 inches" and had no problem hitting them shot for shot. I even took a few shots at the swingers at 50 yards. Didn't hit them with every shot,..but enough to make me smile inside. No fail to fire, no ejection problems....nothing. For $305 bucks, this is one of my better deals. The recoil is mild "heavy gun for its size".Fits in the hand really nice. Its like a 3/4 size 1911. I wished I would have bought one sooner. Not a bad thing to say about it. I like it way more than my Tokarev, and way more accurate. It kinda feels like a browning.
I tried 4 different types of ammo, and it all worked. That's it folks.

Update- Me and my buddy picked up 2 more star Model b hand guns from the Local gun store. Each had the same problem- when you let the slide go forward,...the gun would FIRE ! His did it, & mine did it. We tried the slide release, & we let it go forward manually, and still got the occasional Boom. Not sure what causes this, but BEWARE if you happen to be the unlucky guy who gets one of these stinging B's , your in for a heck of a surprise & maybe a Fatal one.! Always point that darn barrel down range when charging these particular guns. I will never have another one in my home,..and if some one has one at the Range, I'm leaving.

Yes they do.
I was lucky enough to have Frontier just a few blocks away and I really wanted "hand select".....but there all the same , not a dog in the pile LOL.

congrats on your new gun. We forget about the old guns that are great guns, Just like your Spanish Star They are great guns, I like the F Series in 22 A friend bought one. After I told him and he loves it Accuracy is like a Beretta 70 They are just plinkers The Star you have is on the want list. CC is waiting to be Paid LOL I WILL GET ONE A piece of History Enjoy

Yes thanks for posting this, I was looking at one online the other day and wondering if it would be worth getting, I love the historical aspect of the gun

Thanks for the review. These guns are so inexpensive and I've heard various opinions on them so it's nice to hear good things about them
firsthand. How is the slide to frame fit? Tight or rattler? I've come close in the past to picking one up just on price but always hesitated. Maybe time for a rethink.

I just got a couple , had a bit of trouble with the mag disconnect on one, other one is fine, nice and tight , they are all rebuilt , I presume at Star?
Nice guns.It shoots as good as my sig 220 9mm, tho I don't shoot 9mm's very good.

I picked up a Star B (NOT Super), a earlier model but very similar to yours. Lever Arms (ugh) has them. They're Russian Capture from WWII, and as such the finish is a little rougher than yours.

Took it to the range for the first time on Tuesday. My experience was similar to yours. The pistol is solid and easy to use, like a cross between a 1911 and a Browning HP. Trigger was quite good for a surplus gun. It was quite accurate, and I was able to consistently hit 8 inch steel plates from 25 meters. No problems with FTF or FTE using commercial reloads from Custom Reloading Service. My only complaint: it ejects the brass straight back and up towards your face! I'll need to see if I can modify that...

Just turn it sideways and shoot gangster style!

So is there any big differance between the Star B and the B Super? Tradex has a package with the B Super with ammo (1000rds Centaure) and as mentioned Lever Arms has the Star B, I don't mind dealing with Lever and like the thought of handling it prior to buying one. Is one more reliable than the other? They're both about the same in price if it's just the pistol on its own.

The star super B is the newer up graded model.
and wow, that's a great deal that Tradex has. cant go wrong at that.!

Newer I get, as the B is ww2 RC. How is it upgraded, I'm really interested in checking one out. I'd be happy with either I'd expect. Already have a 9mm and more guns that share calibers is always a win win in my books. Plus the B falls into the red collection as well in a way, just need a RC K98 I guess.
