I just got a Star Shooter bipod and was wondering what people were using for a rear bag with this bipod.

I am currently using this bag on the bench and was wondering if it would work for f/tr or will it be too high.

Here is the pic of the rifle.

What do you all think or suggest?

Thanks

I havent take a pic with the bipod on it yet.

That was the a pic I got from the guy I bought the rifle off of. It was the quickest pic of the rifle I could find.

I will try to get a pic with the bipod and rifle tomorrow.

Mount your bipod and lay your rifle down on the floor with your bag under your butt end... its really that simple to check if it will work.

Replied to your post on Accurate Shooter, but I might as well do it here too. What you've got is pretty close to what Manitou has pictured above, so I would be surprised if it didn't work out. There's really only one way to find out for sure though! If you decide you might want to change to an Edgewood (by far the most common rear bag you'll find on the line) I'd suggest sending Manitou a PM ;).

Cheers,

Scott

Here are a couple of pics with the bipod on and sitting in the rear bag. As you can see I tried the bipod in 2 different positions on the stock. Im thinking it should work but Ill have to wait till I get a scope to really try it.

What do you think?

Hello TrxR,
First, your second photo shows a more stable position for shooting LR with the bipod at the forward edge of the fore end.

Second, your rear bag is too far forward which will interfere with your right hand.

Third, your bag is almost level between the ears. This means your stock which has a pronounced angle will cause some high shots at LR if your pressure/position on the butt stock is somewhat variable.

I assume you are shooting on Canadian ranges. This means some firing points are slightly angled upwards to accommodate TR shooters, while some are crap and point somewhat downwards. I have experienced this in the US and a couple of places in western Canada. A level bottomed butt stock coupled with the Star Shooter bipod, and the bag that you showed us will handle most of these firing points, and produce decent scores...however, the high fore end and the under mounted Star Shooter bipod will produce considerable torque when the shot is taken. Ensure your position behind the rifle is perfect, in order to counteract this phenomenon. Shooting a perfect score on the next target SUCKS HARD.

Maybe we will meet on the line.

The bipod is currently set at its highest setting and will lower a quite a bit. As for the stock rear bag setup it is going to have to do for this year. I do think I got to take some sand out of the ears of the bag as they are rock hard.
