Star Wars Props...

You didn't notice him using the term "Stormtroopers"? :D

Yes but Shocktroops/Stormtroopers arn't a new idea, they have been around for centuries, so I just always figured he called them that for the "cool" factor. :runaway:

But anyways it was Canadians NOT the Germans that first used "shock troops" or "storm troopers" on the modern battlefield successfully. The Battle of Vimy Ridge was the same tactics with would be later credited to the Germans for "inventing". You had your artiliery pounding away at the enemies defences, you had your front line troops (shock troops if you want to call them that) walking right behind a successful (no one up untill Vimy actually got it to work right it ether outpaced there troops or they shelled there own troops) and then you have the bulk of the troops to take over what the front line troops missed. ;)

Only difference with the German idea they first put to use 11 months after Vimy Ridge is that the Germans decided to use chemical warfare as well in the bombardment stage.

I remember recognizing a broomhandle the first time I saw Star Wars.

It had the same coolness that the alien bar band had playing a weird kind of dixieland gypsy jazz.

Wonderful pastiche in that movie.

A bit of a disagreement

The Indians used the standard 2 1/2 inch grenade cup threaded to the barrel with a knurled collar on a chopped SMLE the arrangement was fitted with a handle instead of a buttstock and had a hook on the forend, which would grab onto the rail of a armoured vehicle.

The cup was made by by Components Ltd., Bournbrook, Birmingham.
I don't know if the jawa one was fitted with a normal butt or that was simply a variation.

Lucas used tricked our firearms, because in his own words, "Nothing looks more like a real gun than a REAL gun."

Agree, its a smoke discharger. Unfortunately with the current laws, a functioning one would be called a "short barreled rifle" and illegal.
I just can't see paying that amount of money for a paperweight.

Wrong. Short barreled rifles are alot of things but not illegal. It becomes illegal if you cut the barrel down. If you install a factory barrel (any licensed gun manufacturer) its perfectly legal, and as a rifle it doesnt even matter if the barrel is under 105mm, it can only ever become restricted due to overall length issues as it isnt a semi and not even covered by the 18.5" barrel rule.:dancingbanana:

The problem with the new movies is he did not steal from westerns and war movies mabee if he had they would not be so terrible. Are you sure short barrel
bolt actions are legal? Ever since I saw a Socom 16 I thought one built on an enfield action would be awesome as a truck (or tanker) gun. I am partial to wood stocks but a black synthetic tanker Enfield would make a great all
a rounder and with a trijicon would look right at home on the sci fi channel.

Got it in one!:D
16 inch minimum barrel length. Of course you might be able to licence it as a "destructive device" like a short barreled shotgun. but the trick would be to find one first.;)

We can have copies of the Delisle, but again, there is a $200 transfer tax.

Well here is one that is for sale for the right price, and "made in canada, not tatooie"

That's still just the tip of the iceberg where real world firearms are used in the original Star Wars films. There's also Princess Leia's redressed Margolin pistol, the resin cast STG-44's used by the rebels in Empire, the MG-34's and MG-42s used by the empire and some bounty hunters, Greedo's Ruger Mk1, and numerous AR-7 pistols.

If Star wars was set in Glasgow

"Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.

In the vernacular;
"Nae messin' aboot wi' the God squad and auld rubbish, wee man. Get yersel' a decent shooter";)
