Going to start reloading for my tikka ctr 223 as the only 223 ammo I have is 55gr bulk. I am looking at brass options and noticed the starline is available locally. Wondering if it is better to go with the 5.56x45 based on reports that it is a little harder at the base of the case? The starline brass is relatively in expensive when compared to any other offering. Will likely be loading some 69 and 77gr matchkings. Advice is appreciated.

I’m using similar bulk .223 brass. Federal American Eagle that cannot be fed to my AR anymore.

It works just fine. I have a few boxes left and when I want another 100 cases, I practice positional shooting for PRS and have another batch for my bolt gun.

The pic is 10 rounds with 69 SMK in low wind at 200 yards. About 1.1” or just over 1/2 moa. I’ll take it!

Should work just fine, although you won't have issues with 223 headstamped Starline not handling higher PSI. I don't overload pressures, I will go for a larger capacity cartridge if I need to ramp up velocity

I have two CTR 223's and use Lapua, SIG, Winchester, PMC and Nosler brass

I've found that random-headstamp brass does in fact give random results, and sorting to do runs of a consistent headstamp brings the groups in closer.
