Start of Moose Season

I’m way up in northern Saskatchewan. I’ll be going pretty much every weekend until tagged out or Thanksgiving, whichever comes first.

I hear you on the work… tons of trail maintenance, camp area maintenance, and ratchet strap after ratchet strap to get everything needed for 2-4 days onto the ATV.
 
some friends have tags in my area in BC starting mid october.
I'm officially tasked with scouting between now and then so while i'm deer hunting I'll be checkin in on promising areas.
Hope we see some success this season and good luck to those who pulled a tag this year
 
For us it open on the first of August, so a rifle follow me everywhere I go, but this year August and so far September has been super warm, too warm really to put any effort into real hunting.
 
I’m interested when you say Northern Saskatchewan as I’m in British Columbia and when successful with a Limited Entry Draw I’m usually on a Latitude line that crosses through Prince George or maybe an hour north of there .
Is that how far North you travel ?
 
Xbolt 2 pro with 7mm prc hornady 175 eldx.
3 shots at 100yrds. Light wind from right to left. Turned down the trigger to 2.5lbs from the factory 4.
Think I'm ready for the weekend. Hoping for some moose burgers. Weather is showing bit warm, hope the moose don't mind it.

i'm now kinda glad i didnt pull and moose or elk tag this year. Got a small cut on the back of my hand on a fishing trip out on the west coast.... lonnnnggg way from any kind of medical help. Middle finger wasn't workin right so had to visit the er when i got home 5 days later then off to see a surgeon finally ... 2 weeks after the injury, 2.5 hours south of me. Little tiny 3/4 long cut across the knuckle resulted in a severed tendon. They fixed me up fine but my left hand is in a fricken cast for 2 months. Surgeon said i was lucky it didn't retract far as he has had to open up arms all the way to the elbow to retrieve that tendon..... yikes.
so i live vicariously thru other hunters moose tales this season , though i might still do some calling for my friends when they come up for thier draws next month.
 
Weather has turned and fall is here! We are heading out me and my wife are heading out with the freighter for 3 days… a bit short but if you stay home you have no chances hahaha! If we aren’t lucky I leave again on the 29th for a week!
 
Flying out of Thompson mb tomorrow on a 3 week guiding gig. My favourite use of vacation time, most prefer to be just another fat gringo at the swim up bar.
