Just bought my first pistol. Soo e###cited, cant wait to get it in my hot little hands. Will be picking up in a couple days.

I was looking for a while to figure out just what I wanted, and from previous experience it's better toget what you REALLY WAN'T rather than setteling and then working your way up to what you wanted originally. So I decided out of my favorites, that I would just go an bite the bullet (mind the pun) and just get an HK USP EXPERT.
I hope this will be a Pistol I will keep for a long time and pass on rather than trade up (can you go up ??? from here?) MK23 I suppose if you want a hand canon.
I ended up with the .45 Auto / A.C.P (what's the difference anyway???) All marketing I think. Go BIG or go home. I know this will be a small fortune to fire at the range but if I want to practice lots I will use my airsoft USP compact in the garage.

Just wish this came with the Jet Funnel mag well. I am not sure it is available for the 45 version, I see the 9 and .40 from som esite I have checked but am feeling a little sorrow cause I reallt wanted the extention thinking that it would suit the gun well considering it's size.

Has anyone heard of the mag well goodies for the 45 version????

when (in a round count) does it seem prudent to gine the gun a spring kit overhaul or other high wear bits???
 
Congratulations on the new toy. "45 Auto" and "45 ACP" are the same thing (ACP=Automatic Colt Pistol - the gun that the cartridge was designed for). As far as the springs go I play it safe and change all of my springs at 5,000 rounds, except for my 1911 Compact which because of the higher slide velocity I change at 3,000-3,500. If you're going to shoot a 45 I'd suggest you should look into reloading, that way you'll be able to shoot more without selling body parts. :D
 
Some people may suggest work up to from a small cal but I don't agree. start with something you want to shoot and learn from there. I think you are on the right track. USP is a good gun and .45 is a good cal to boot.

There's no difference between .45 Auto and .45 ACP. .45 Auto is just the shortened name you get when you truncate Automatic Colt Pistol (ACP). There's no jet funnel for the .45 ACP version. You might be able to find an aftermarket piece, though.

Yes I have fired many handguns before, but they were not my own. So it is a different feeling when I get to clean it, love it, load it, fire it, and repeat.

.45 ACP and auto are the same, so does that go the same for the .45 GAP (Glock automatic pistol) ?? Like I said it sounds like marketing, so why not have a .45 S&W or .45 beretta or whatever. Unless there are some actual differences in the load, companies should not be able to re-brand something. I understand the A.C.P. thing as it was the first so why doesn't everybody just adopt the same acronym.
 
Technically, there is no such ammunition or cartridge type as '45 ACP'.
The correct nomenclature is '45 Automatic'.
As indicated, the slang terminology takes the form of the gun it was designed for.

Good call on the Expert. Not sure if the 45 auto version can be fitted with a funnel, but the mags that fit guns with funnels are hard to find

.45 GAP IS actually a different, shorter cartridge meant so that you wouldn't need the gigantic (if you have small hands like myself) grips required for double-stack .45's.
