Hi all! I picked up a Rem 870 express trio not that long ago, and have decided to go tactical with it, I will be running the turkey barrel for it's non-hunting functions. I am looking for advice on where to start, the stock options are confusing. I like the AR style stock, but I am concerned about the quality of the cheaper (ATI). This sorta thing is new to me and $ is tight enough that I can't a afford to put junk on it. I plan to run a light on it as well. Any input would be awesome, there is nothing like first hand experience.

Thanks.
(hi to the guys I met at the Eganville gun show!)

If you cant afford to put junk on it then you defenitely cant afford to put the good stuff on it either. ATI is pretty cheap, not for serious use. Most AR stocks and adaptors for SG's will raise your cheek weld up too high to use the bead or even rifle sights in some cases. My advice is to simply buy what you can afford and be ready to change it out for something different. My guns change accessories like a 13 yr old girl, and as the owner I pick up the tab. Its not exactly economical but it works. As for lights, Fenix makes some good s**t for blinding and confusing everything you point them at, and my little Fab Defense Speedlight is pretty impressive for how small it is. It all boils down to personal preference, just remember all this stuff adds weight, slap on a couple shell carriers, mag tube, flashlight and an optic and you've got one beast of a shotgun to lug around.

S&J thats one hour straight south of me on Hwy 62. Cool. And here I was afraid I would have to get taken at Quintie Outdoor Sports to get anything without driving a long distance.
Thanks for the input fro u all. I am more working out a plan, trying to figure out where I want to go. U know, get a feeling for what people think of the different prducts and so on.

Read a lot of the posts here. Many of your questions are asked and answered in this forum.
If you want something that's more than "mirror commando" quality, save your money and get the good stuff. BadyBoyBeason has some fine products, as do NEA and others that are all Canadian. Support your local suppliers!

In the meantime, buy a "chuckit" clay thrower and get that action smoothed up!! :D

Yes I intend to work the action. and figure out how to get it cycle cheap ammo, the damn things stick and the extractor rips chunk out of the shell head. Polishing the chamber did nothing. I am pleased to find out there are places locally to buy this sorta stuff. I am not alone in not knowing about these places. I am passing on the info onto others. S&J has the stock I have been looking for, and looks like they also have followers to correct the out of the box hang up with the factory one. This no longer seems so overwhelming.

Use any cheap ammo except that terrible Winchester crap that Canadian Tire sells...

That is the EXACT stuff that caused me the problems. My Charles Daley (870 copy and a better gun) loved it.

Oh and a question. should there be a step down (90 degree shoulder) say 1.25 mm drop down to the choke in the barrel ? it's seems odd to me but both shot barrels on my new 870 seem to have them. it's like the bore is smaller then the choke.
