Starting a fire Without matches;

We were fishing once and forgot the matches. So Dad goes to the battery on the truck and with a pair of pliers and some deep woods off and some sort of dry bark, bingo, we get the fire started. Short the battery to get sparks with the pliers, while spraying the bug spray to create a flame, flame then catches on bark and run like hell to the fire pit.
Actually happened! Ate fried fish that night.
 
I love that your father remembered the pliers and the deep woods off, but forgot the lighter :)


Good to know tho. Goes to show you that in a pinch, using your brain a little can get you out of a lot of sticky situations.

Ya wanna be careful with this one, car batts give off hydrogen gas and can KB real loud dousing you in acid and sharp little plasticky bits.
