Starting a modest WWII collection

Thanks for the comments guys! I am very happy with my little collection so far, but it certainly pales in comparison to some of the amazing collections of some other CGN members. I am actually surprised that I have managed to collect these firearms in such a short period of time. I expected that it would take much longer to find some of these milsurps. I only have a few more pistols left on my wish list (see my signature below), but I suppose if the right opportunity came along, I might be tempted to add a few more items not on the list :)

Dec 30, 2013 UPDATE

So with a few days off work, I have been finally getting around to some of those jobs that never seem to get done. One was to organize my office and make up a display area for the Dewats. At the same time I decided to pull out all the other WWII gear for a quick photo op:

Your display is amazing !!!
Like you know :)
I just start in the milsurp world. I read, read ,read and ask question. I will follow advice of some board member in this thread. Take my time to choose a collecting focus and do a want list of what i really want.
Thanks to everyone for their advice in this thread.

Thanks for the kind words Nelson. While I am very happy with my little WWII collection I think "amazing" is a word that would better describe some of the collections of our fellow CGN members, for example:

theholeinthedonut collection thread: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/717716-Milsurps-from-WWII-to-present-days

drm3m and others: (I have not seen the entire collections, but if this is any indication....) : http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/991499-Two-iconic-German-guns-from-WWII-MG42-and-MP44

and many others.....

:) What are you doing Thursday?....just kidding, but I have always wanted to visit Tucson. I fully intend to take you up on that very generous offer (soon). Cheers

ps: please pm your contact info, and I will be in touch.

Jan /Feb 2014 Update **pictures added**

I have turned down a few possible additions to my little collection lately as the milsurp funds are quickly drying up. I have acquired a few accessories, such as mags and mag pouches though, as seen below:

However I did run across one Milsurp deal that I could not pass up. I had to raid the last few hundred dollars out of several "discretionary accounts" , but it was worth it: I have a #### and click '44 PPSh 41 on its way with drum and stick mags.

Thanks Nelson. I think I am just about done as far as Dewat acquisitions are concerned. I am happy with this small assortment of some of the most iconic WWII SMGs. On the other hand, if a really nice MP44 was available ......or an MP40.....or a '28 Thompson ;)

Nice! Enjoy the new Colt. Scott's photos are well done.

I own 44' Colt serial number 1640532. I once also owned 44' Colt serial number 1642077 in excellent condition but it now belongs to another CGN member (it was a duplicate).

This my 1640532:

I just sold this Walther P38 ac44 to another CGN member. I had originally intended to have 3 P38's in my collection (cyq, ac and byf) however I came to realize that one was enough. As nice as they are, I have found that I am not that interested in P38s in general. Plus I need to raise some cash (see post #76 above).

'44 Colt

This pistol just arrived yesterday:

In the Scott Gahimer photos above it appears to be a blue gray, but in natural light is more of a brownish gray.
Here it is with the Ithaca and US&S:
