This is a project with more than one objective.
1) Moving to non-lead bullets.
2) Developing a load for the Leupold CDS

The load is for a 280 Remington in a Remington 700 BDL SS and the scope is the VX-6 2 - 12 x 42.

Since BARNES only lists two loads for this bullet using two powders I did not have, the Nosler book (#7) was consulted for their 140 grain bullets.
The hoped for results was a load that exceeded 3000 fps. Nosler listed Re19 as the most accurate powder.
Six bullets were loaded using WW brass, Gold Medal Magnum Large Rifle primers, BARNES 7mm 140 grain TTSX bullets, and 53 to 58 grains of Re19.

The results are in the photo.

The next test will be for 200 yard or metre groups with powder charges of 57.5 and 58.0 grains of Re19.

Using two loads of Re19 (57.5 and 58.0) to achieve 3000 fps, the following groups were shot at 192 yards.

57.5 grains averaged 2970 and produced the following group.
The bottom two shots followed a scope adjustment.

58.0 grains measured 1.25" and the velocity was 3006. The bottom shot was the result of the scope adjustment.

Safe to say they can be loaded up, and have Leupold cut the CDS.
Two clicks to the right should be good for 200 meters.
